The Alpenhorn on Main St was good.
If the Chinese place that was operating out of the peeler bar is still there. Don't.
This bear:

Is on display at the Smithers airport. It's a monster.

For biking follow the signs to take you up the ski hill, a soon as you cross the RR tracks on the over pass turn Right at the next corner and follow it a short way to the trail head for "the bluff"... there will be a trail map/sign for and lotsa well built well maintained flowy trail riding marked blue/green/black, COB or mcbike are good bike stores
The alpenhorn is hit n miss more often its miss so while i drink there I never eat there, instead I go to the aspen for pub food where the food is better, also you could probably get a ground floor room ( I hope colin doesn't read this) and wheel the bikes inside
the latest restaurant to open is the tandoori and its got fantastic EI food
the blue fin on main street has good sushi

The Alpenhorn is dodgy. Service is shit, food is overpriced. Beer is OK but I don't drink it. Go there for the touron micro-brew experience.
The restaurant at the Aspen is amazing. If you get to go there with XXX-er you will be royally feted
More about Smithers biking. But ignore the alpine rides as its coated in snow now and done for the year unless it gets really warm again and melts out

we interrupt this biking thread for the steelhead season which means it could be hard to find a place to stay, I went by my buddies place The Stork's Nest, its full and will likely be so for the next month
SO you want to book ahead and resturants might almost be crowded with old american fisherman/tourists who will be lying about the one that got away
Its work bee this saturday so Gona go play with Chainsaws at the Hankin BC ski area and then sunday is rivers day and hang out with the GF so probably notLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

I think we were feted because buddy was writing the piece and blogging about the huge pow dump ... I was merely his trusty AZN chauffeur
maybe i pm you but I just got home from 3 weeks of sea kayaking out in Haida Gwai and feel powerful urge to reconnect with GFLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

Nah go in there and ask for the David Suzuki special and you'll be treated great. Seriously it's a bit unusual to get good food in a smaller town. Ditto the Blue Fin sushi place.
Trails are apparently in fantastic shape in the Bluffs. You won't go wrong there.
You always sell yourself short. The bartender knew exactly what you wanted as soon as you stepped through the door. She also remembered us from a few years ago.

Masa yama is a good spot. So is the trackside cantina.
Alpenhorn is pretty overrated. Aspen has betTer food and beer.

New curry in a hurry place called Northern Fusion on 1st is also good. Good place for grab and go eat in the woods scenario. Bug wood bean for coffee.

Thank you XXX-er and the Bulkley Backcountry Ski Society for inviting me to their shindig. There were lots of dogs, great people, and a just completed timber framed cabin to party with. I'll be joining the BBSS. Thanks LL for the riding recs. Love this place.
