Going to head down to Mammoth early Saturday morning to work for the remainder of the holidays. Apparently it's dumping there to. Check out these pics from Wednesday of some slide activity on the mountain.

Climax goes big! Makes the fracture line in El Cap look small by comparison.

Avi 3, chair 22 area. From the Eastern Sierra Avalanche Center web page, "Another active day of avalanches on the upper mountain as a result of control work on Mammoth Mtn. Several large avalanches went to the ground from gun shot rounds - see photo of Climax photo 8+ ft crown (Huevos to Upper Dry, Dragon Back 4, Paranoid 3). Hand charges and ski cuts resulted in failures within storm layer up to 18" deep."
Merry Christmas everyone and may your new year be filled with face shots and pow days blurring together. Be careful out there and if anyone needs a crowd or snow report from Mammoth, don't hesitate to hit me up.

Then a young lady came along and froze her tongue on my ice beard.

They did this evening. 8"-10" in the edgewood parking lot between 4pm and midnight. Driving home this evening, the roads became clear around Ski Run. Up until 4pm it was snowing everywhere on the south shore

I'll be in line at Zephyr early x-mas day. Red jacket, brown pants, Rossi S7's. No GF or kids with me, I'll be flying solo. If you are to, look for me and let's make some turns! So bummed I missed today.

Mrs C and I will be there too, hopefully early enough to get there when they open. We'll look for you. Not sure what skis I'm bringing - thinking DPS 138, hoping it's as good as yesterday. Mrs C probably on Salomon Rocker 2.

Sounds good. I'm out the door sooner and headed up. Hoping to beat any accidents on the road and be earlier than two Mondays ago.

Nice meeting you on the lift! I was the guy with the Billy Goats. I should have known you were on TGR.

Pretty amazing day at Northstar; way better than I expected.

Powderhouse was absolutely ALL TIME this morning. Zero stability issues, and very light snow. I managed 4 laps before guilt over blowing off the family got to me. The early birds set a ludicrously steep skin track, even by Tahoe standards. It was 13F when I started at 0745 and 20F when I left at 1115. Powder should hold up fine at those temps.

That was my plan too Gimpy but so far not only clouds but snow too. Saw you trying to brave your way across 50 to safeway this afternoon. If it doesn't happen tonight it will tomorrow.

I too am waiting for the clouds to blow out. Mostly gone over Reno but still present over Slide Mountain. Forecast says clearing, but I ain't gonna stay up too late for this.

Hitting up Rose BC early in the morning for a break from the family festivities if anyone is interested. 6 to 630am to either incline peak or areas around tamarack. Just doing a couple laps.
I love my family. Kids are the best.

Radar has gone completely clear think it's only a matter of time before the skies do too.

Looks less promising on this side of the region. Tomorrow night looks like a better bet. I'm pulling the plug and having an extra beer
