Easiest way to do freel without a sled bump to Horse meadows is from heavenry so u can actually ski to high meadows. To do it Legally, going out full stone gate, ski to monument saddle and then traverse approx where the rim trail is. During melt freeze you can really haul ass doing that traverse and is super efficient. In pow not so much so just ski down to high meadows and then point it towards the ridge between freel and jobs sister. Since yer there you might as well ski jobs sister too. Then on the out, there is an awesomely untouched steepish north facing ridge line we call frimmer cuz it connects freel to trimmer. Then finish with a run down trimmer slide paths to your car parked at high meadows th
If u can't get the chair bump then yeah, you are hiking up high meadow trail

I've done freel with an approach from the northeast side. There's a nice bowl that gains the ridge lookers left of the chutes north off the summit. I really recommend against descending the fountain pl west face route because if that ski track on the road burns out, it's eight miles of boot packing through shit bush back to the car. But the evenly spaced juniper trees on the south aspect are a total dream until the snow runs out.

We did it from Heavenly today, perfect corn on both the backside of the Heave and the backside of Freel, how does that even happen? The road down lower to Luther is melting out in spots especially the few down hill sections which suck, get it while the getting is good. Top of High meadows road is another location to start from if your not on the Vail program.

Lake Tahoe 2015/16 - Year of Godzilla Baby Jesus
Anyone know what the Squaw spring pricing will be? Or if they are offering g a spring pass? Want to get up that way with my son once Vail closes down KW, but only if it is not going to cost us $100 lift tickets.
Pre drought Squaw ran 8-2 w/ hot tub till 3 for $39. That would work. A loooong time ago Alpine was $25 for that same time period. Wondering what pricing will be this year.
I'll be back up at KW mid week if anyone is poking around. Doubtful there will be much softness, but fingers crossed.

You can also get next year's super pass and ski this spring. I'm considering doing that for early and late season.
I've only heard horror stories about the crowds this past year

^^^yeah. Doubt I'll actually leave KW next year and go to KSL. Too many things keeping me in the valley including free mid week lodging. Even though the VC way is changing the place in a way I don't really like.
Irul - familiar w the 4 pack. Looking for beta I. Spring pricing/hours which are not yet announced. Often someone who skis there regularly will get this info b4 it is posted. Not gonna bother at 4 pack prices. Only considering this to do with my son if it is cheap spring skiing. We will basically be on Mountain Run and Shirley Lakes, so not worth the four pack price for me.

Squaw is giving vouchers for $50 tickets to passholders who renew before 4/19, usable by anyone--passholder gets a code number to present at ticket window and can give the number to anyone. If you know a renewing passholder maybe they can fix you up. I gave mine to a friend already.

Dust on crust at Alpine this morning. The more dusty and less crusty spots were fun.

I'm gonna be driving up to Squaw from the bay area on Friday. What is the likelihood I will need 4WD?
