Anyone got a line in midweek accommodation at Kirkwood? Would be interested in a share of a house as a midweek person etc etc.

Tahoe backcountry skiers, now's the time to make your voices heard! Much thanks to Mike Schwartz, Rich Meyers and everyone that called or emailed or shared the word about this. It's because the community spoke up that TPTB are listening.

You're probably half my age, and I was cleared to ski 4.5 months post ACL replacement (cadaver) and meniscus trim. I predict that you'll be back on boards when the good part of the season starts, after Presidents' Week.

In case you're interested this Saturday 10/17 these folks will be presenting at the California Avalanche Workshop at LTCC. Tix via www.ltccconnect.com or show up a little early on Sat.

And then beer afterwards. It might even be raining if we're lucky.

I'm guessing this one is a controlled burn on the West shore rather than some of you creating new parking spots in revolt

^^ Yes, it's a controlled burn. I read about it on facebook or somewhere last night.

For you B&T foolios, it's gonna be in Petaluma on Jan. 29 (Friday) and in SF on Feb 18 (Thurs).

For the Tahoe/Reno crowd, it will be in Reno in March and Minden in April.

In other ski film related news,

Level 1's latest venture, Small World, will be screening a coupla times locally.

    1. Wed. Oct. 21 @ Sierra Nevada College, Incline Village, NV

    2. in Tahoe City on Sat. Oct. 24th @ North Tahoe High School.

I caught the flick at Moment's factory a few weeks ago and found it to be one of the better ski pornos I've seen in recent memory (it won the IF3 Film of the Year, fwtw). I really dug the editing, cinematography (they did some really cool Hype Williams-inspired reverse POV stuff), and the soundtrack.

I laughed. First time I've heard that term in this context.

I will be there wearing a Sawtooth Mountain Guides hat. Stop and say hello. I am new to the Sierra's.

I worked in a T-shirt factory and printed "The Great Smoky"(a restaurant) instead of "The Great Smoky Mountains".

I think the same thing every time I see that. I just hated it whenever my stepmom would correct me on that sort of thing so I don't tell people out loud.

Great workshop today at LTCC. Dishwasher Dave put a GREAT program on this year, I tip my hat. I'm already looking forward to next year!

Great get-together also, just getting everyone back together and catching up.

ski_faster I saw your hat but didn't have a chance to say hi.

I'm starting to think that it's going to be a good winter.
    Why?
Because, after more than 12 years, The Def Squad have re-united and the rap super trio of Erick Sermon, Redman, and Keith Murray sound ruffer, ruggeder, and rawer than ever.

    http://www.bet.com/video/hiphopaward...-explicit.html

Despite the fire they spit in the above video, right about now you're probably asking "What the f@#k does a rap supergroup have to do with Tahoe weather?:

Well, back in 1998, The Def Squad released their debut (and to date only) album.

    The title of that album?

So, is it just coincidence that after a decade-plus hiatus they have reconvened? Or is it the power of El Nino that has brought them together again? You decide.
