Closing day @ SS was a classic spring day. Took the kiddo skiing and she did a run top to bottom without the harness, pretty stoked. Not bad for 2.5 yrs.
Boozy booter session to top it off!!! I can also still go upside down and land on my feet. Felt great.www.skevikskis.com Check em out!

What..... is every one done skiing?
From Mona pow, finally had time to look through some vids. Guide asked me if I was awake yet. Fun line and nice to get away from some of the gorbs in our group.
Going to try for the summit of Severide tomorrow. Been looking at this guy for my entire life, one of the big ones you can see down at the end of the end of the Coldstream Valley.www.skevikskis.com Check em out!

Hi Kelowna folks.
Thanks for all the advice. I pulled the trigger a few weeks ago and committed to UBCO. I just finished a week long visit up there, and feel like it will be a fine place to reside for 2 years.
I'm trying to move up there in a month or so, and was considering living in Vernon since it is closer to my field sites, can anyone tell me if this is a bad idea? I noticed that there isn't a lot in terms of room rentals with other people in their 20s there, which makes me wonder if I should just suck it up and live in Kelowna instead.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I hope to eventually ski with some of you!

A reminder to anyone in driving distance, 49 Degrees North has free skiing for two more days. Had a great day yesterday, cruising in perfect Spring conditions, legal Washington weed, beer and burger specials, and dodging redneck snow-plowers.

If you are a backcountry skier/rock climber you will find a strong community of folks in Kelowna through VOCO. If you just shred resort then it probably doesn't matter that much. Eventually you will discover a couch in Revelstoke and the 30mins of driving you save each weekend will not be greater then the 30 mins of driving you spent to get to school everyday. It is likely you will have the great regret if you move to Vernon as everyone you meet though UBCO will be in Kelowna.

Went up to Perley Rock today. Solid crust except for a few patches of breakable on the highest north facing slopes. Ski crampons not essential but made life much more pleasant. Started down at 1:30 pm and had a pleasant ski down. Even the flats at the bottom hadn't got too soft or sticky. Didn't see any activity today, not even sunballing, although there was a lot of older debris. Creek crossings won't last much longer.

Thanks Nick. Closed the hill down and was wondering what was happening at the pass. Looks like possible snow up there for a couple days then cooling a touch. Could be good for my vacation

Got Severide done. Pretty stoked, it was a mission but felt amazing to stand up at the top. I am so burnt.
My buddy AJ (Turbo) passed away two years ago up in the area in a slide. I left a turbo shirt in a crack in the rock at the summit. We did a lot of exploring together up here.
Pretty sure this was a first ski ascent and descent unless someone else has some info on this?www.skevikskis.com Check em out!

Nice one Hefe. Way to keep it going and cool that you keep turbos memory alive. AJ was a special person. So much positive energy. I met him in emerg after I shattered my back at silverstar. He was a friend of a friend that was with me. My buddy phoned him to see if he was working at the hospital. He was and I couldn't have met a better person. Got me in icu and looked after me then checked back when he wasn't even working. I was a mess and he made a huge difference. For the next few years it was always a highlight to see him at the bike park and get a few laps in before he was off chatting someone up. Dood was pumped 24/7. One of those people you never forget
In other news, went up youngs peak today . Skied a chute asulkan pass side of the 7th step. Still a bit of pow on north and only north face. Milked north facing side of a moraine down to the hut then nice corn ski all the way out . Even the trail down to the parking was soft and carve able . A few survival turns amongst the soft patches but I've definitely had way worse skiing up there. Skied down about 1-1:30. At the car at 2:30

check their webcams, looks to be finally snowing there right now. Lost of heat and weak freeze has taken a toll. Might also help to post in Canadian Rockies thread. I'm sure somebody can chime in with a recent report.

Winter still exists. More incoming, just arrived back to the land of cell reception and what not, so give me a few days to get things sorted. Most everything got a line or three down it though....
Edit.... Fuck it. I'm tired. Whichever fat old fuck is running the TGR show right now needs to get with the program and realize it's 2016. Rad teaser stoke is being with held until they get this mobile shit fucking sorted or whatever. Full TR in a few days when I find a 'civilized' computer...Last edited by That was Pontus; 05-05-2016 at 12:55 AM.
