Don't try. What's the point? Just figure out if you can/want to hang with their thang and take it from there.

Seriously, watch this guy and his girl. Loves the IPA's, just quit his job as a master sushi chef in SF. I'd go to his restaurant that he just left. He mentions is over a couple times over the years.

Just buy a quality piece of Ahi (Blue Fin if available) about an inch and a half thick, turn the grill on as hot as possible and sear about 1:30-2 minutes per side. That cooks about a quarter inch on each side. Slice in quarter inch thick pieces and serve with wasabi and soy sauce. I do a ceasar salad and baked potatoes with it. Nobody complains and I am sure she would be impressed.

I don't know how this went from divorce to fish, but whatever.

I was a divorce attorney at one point in my career. My clients would come to me complaining about their spouse dating someone else while the divorce was pending. It made it seem like a third party, someone they didn't know, was having a hand raising their children. Everyone resented it.

The advice I gave to my clients was this: encourage your soon-to-be ex-spouse to date other people. In divorce, free time and an idle mind are very dangerous things. If your spouse has either of those things, their attention will turn to how much they resent you, everything you supposedly did wrong, what a horrible parent you are, etc. However, if they have a distraction in the form of a new relationship, then they DON'T have time to focus on how much they hate you. And if they do still have the time, they won't want to spend it being negative. They will want to invest it into their new relationship.

Encourage your spouse to find something, or someone, that's positive in their life. When they have that, the focus won't be on you anymore. And that will move things forward for each of you.

Yeah but that shit can backfire. I’ve observed the new flame convincing the ‘amicably separating’ spouse that they were fucked over in the old relationship.

So you’re kinda gambling on your ex’s ability to choose wisely.

You could always just nuke them from space and behead the remains. A stake through the heart is likely a good call on the ex too.

Everything in a divorce can backfire. There isn't one path to success that works for everyone.
"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy

So you’re saying the only fail-proof strategy is to not get married in the first place.
