Well, reading about it, I would say that the Fare Thee Well tour was the cash grab cluster fuck, but then they realized how much fun they were having and how many fans were pissed off, so they decided to keep it going with the resources available...JM.

I'm looking forward to seeing them, but not too sure about the Fenway venue. I'd rather see them in Boulder for sure.

    Who wouldn't?!

Saw the Stones at Fenway in 2008. It was a great show and a beautiful night, so you'd be surprised at how amazing it is. Of course it helps if you get second row, and are seated in front of a bunch of high fiving, giddy Patriots...

Is there any truth to the rumor that they aren't repeating any songs this tour? Only thing left on July 16 will be Space Jam.

^Thanks, that's great. Nice stats on what they played and how often.

I'm sure it'll be good whatever, but fun to think about.

If I'm going to see a Dead cover band, I'll just wait until DSO comes to me in October.

I would have to agree. No question Oteil is the man and JM is a solid player but other than some of the blues tunes, he doesn't do anything for me. Not saying I don't enjoy listening/watching occasionally but not intriguing enough to dip in to my finance box.

On a separate but related note, hearing the boys from VT are absolutely killing right now. Heard a little from the last few shows and I'm feeling like I should have grabbed a few tiks.

Maybe more bikes than at the dolly lama show last week? Should be fun. Saturday is 29th anniversary of my first show and 21st of my last GD show (literally ran into Garcia at the hotel that night, but that's another story).

90 was the year to quit. I only caught Hamilton and Albany that spring. I never listen to any recordings post-Brent.

I quit in '90 after Brent's passing . I think it only lasted until the following spring.

DeadCo has been growing on me but haven't been to a show. Will be at both Alpine shows! They seem to be on fire. This group can't be compared the the Grateful Dead. That's been done for 21 yrs. nothing will replace it. These fellas are playing the music well tho. Jm seems to be fitting in better every time i hear a show. He's doing less at the right time. More when it's called for. Even Weir is looking and sounding good. Seems to be having fun and treating it less like a job these days.

Funny that there are 3 of us in this thread who all quit in 90. I got really tired of the scene, of all the people who were spare changing yet feeling like they were enlightened.

word, i caught 58 Brent shows and only 3 after he passed
and the only reason i went to those shows in 94-95, was because my old tour buddies said Jerry was getting ready to check out.
and that if i wanted to see him again, now was the time
needless to say, i was horrified by how much Jerry had aged, and how weak and frail he looked
i also never listen to post-Brent Dead
DeadCo is a fun show, i will see them whenever they come around

amazes me that "deadheads" haven't seen a single one of Phil's bands, Furthur, Ratdog, D&C....

good times, and a fantastic way to stay connected to old friends.

    waiting for DSO instead? lol

well, I always say that I'm retired, I haven't been a Deadhead for 26 years. Heck, I even stopped listening to their music for a LONG time. And I'm still connected to all of my old friends. Seems like most of us grew out of it anyhow.

I haven't seen Phil lately, but I liked all the other guys for sure...But I still really enjoy the DSO shows. Small venues and a lot of energy. Good times

    Dead and Company.

I'm confused... Should I have a good time at Dead and company in Fenway or not?

Summer, outdoor show, beers, good friends, great tunes... It sounded fun to me?! : middlefinger:

Live shows are great, but they don't come my way too often. You know where I live, MMP - It's not like the civic arena is just down the road, so when a national act comes within 20 minutes of me I'm all over it. I listen to live GD about 4-5 hours/week to make up it.

I'm glad to hear JM is starting to figure out a groove, but the live stuff I've heard on XM from the winter and spring D&Co shows still sounds like he has a long way to go to mature into a sound that I want to hear from the 'Dead'.

To many folks having a good time at a Dead show had very little to do with the music, so it doesn't really matter who is on stage.

Last night I won a pair of tickets to Friday at Fenway. They're in the family no alcohol section, if someone wants them lemmeno. I'll pop them in the mail to you.
