Double oof.
I'll never forget when we were shopping for our first X5, a CPO 2008, we get to the Bimmer dealer and some other salesman had it out on a test drive with a customer despite the fact that we put a deposit down on it that morning. During the cat and mouse game of one salesman not bringing the car back to the dealer to steal the sale, and the other trying to keep us on the hook and not get any more mad than we already were he had some lackey roll out one of those 9-7Xs from the back lot that someone traded in that week.
He was really excited about the position of the ignition key. We were less excited about getting the bait and switch on a rebadged Chevy that still had the "GM" logo on the front quarter panel.I still call it The Jake.

Lol. True. In irony of all ironies though, the 9-7X is probably the most reliable of all Saabs at the time. According to a mechanic of mine at least. "Reliable" being a relative term, of course. However, being based on a Trailblazer, it HAS to probably be about the lousiest driving "Saab" ever built. Haha.
Truth. If mine is any indication, it's actually a damn good motor. I'm one oil change away from hitting 200K and it seems to run good as new. No leaks. Running smooth. Shitty transmissions aside, it's been a shockingly good vehicle with zero real problems. Engine's probably the best part of that POS. I hate the vehicle, but at least it's been super reliable. Color me surprised. I literally bought it as a disposable vehicle, being a Chevy and all. I had no faith, but here I am 10 years and 150K miles later. Huh... I wouldn't have believed it back when I bought it.

Sent from my iPhone using TGR ForumsI need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

The paint on my RR is so shot it's down to bare metal in a few spots and no clear coat for almost the full length of the roof on the drivers side. Meh, whatever, I'll hit it with a rattle can and some spray lacquer before the winter and call it good. I like the idea of bedliner though. Ya think a Range Rover would look good that way?

Very happy with the way my 08 Saab has kept the paint nice. My 2014 jetta has the worst paint ever, don't get me started on how thin the roof metal is. Fucking car wash sounds like the roff is going to cave in.
Saab sat for the most part for covid. Fucking thing still trucks and I love driving her. Got the Saab coolant leak into the passenger floor. Gave it a tighten, let hope I don't have to pull half the dash out to replace the o ring. Wonder if a good coat of jb weld would do the trick? Considering it.
