Android Auto integration is super cool. Makes this base model feel pretty loaded with google maps up on the dash and seamless calling/text to voice. Base Alltracks come with 17 inch wheels instead of 18 inch wheels as well. Cheaper tougher tires with a better ride.

Looks like guys are going 205/65 16 for snows and having no problems. One guy claims 215/65 16 will work with no rubbing.

I think we will be fine for rear seat legroom but need to figure out how to add 5 cubic feet to trunk! Will definitely need to utilize my two Yakima boxes in various combinations.

Still have old reliable 4R for trips my stepson goes with us on for the next couple three years till he opts out of them altogether. I can't stand the idea of burning the 4r up as a daily and soaking it in salt all winter when I need it as a tow vehicle and the fuel burn difference pays for the insurance and registration plus some for the Alltrack.Wife vetoed awd Sienna. I wanted the stick. No perfect solution till Subaru makes an Outback on the global platform and puts a manual in it which is not happening.

In case you haven't found it yet, there are two heights for the rear cargo shelf. If you pull it out (heh) and remove all of the plastic supports you can then put the shelf at the lower height. I don't think it's 5 cu. ft. but it does make a difference.

Okay cool! I was totally eyeing all that space under there above the spare and plotting ways to utilize it. The forward tool compartment is cool.

I think you end up losing the tool compartment when it gets lowered. Worth the trade-off. I tend to run it in the lower position in the summer when we're packing the car full of camping gear and higher in the winter when it's just ski stuff.

The manual sort of explains it but it's not hard to figure out.

Looking at it right now. Looks like various configurations will work. I will take a look at the manual.

Twin turbo v6 6spd manual + Quattro. The new bmw 328d with x-drive looks rad, but until I win the lottery this wagon ticks off all the boxes.

You might as well live in Boulder or SLC with that car family.

Hehe. Wife did live in Boulder once upon a time. Unique quiver round these parts though...I figure I pretty much cover the bases as far as giving people a reason to question my sanity.

FYI looks like the regal tourx wagons are getting discounts around 10k, likely a nice ride for 26-27k

That would be a great discount. I am not seeing that pricing in San Diego County. Just a tad over MSRP for asking prices here. Who knows what you can wheel and deal.

Edit to add: Yep, some good prices back east on this car.

Damn. What's it cost to ship a car across the country these days? Those are great deals. About $5-6k cheaper than what I see on CarGurus in Northern CA.

Last time I shipped a car that far it was about $500. Totally worth it to save that kind of $$$.

I remember hearing $700, but that was a number of years ago.

That is about what I would expect. Thanks.

    Definitely an interesting option.

Those are great deals on the Tour x. There were some in Michigan for close to that price as well when I was looking at them.

Alltracks are also heavily discounted. The best deals were out East but the fine print stated you had to be a resident of the 3 state region to get the full deal. Also some dealers have ridiculous fees tacked onto the cargurus price once you investigate. Not always worth the hassle.

BTW if that pricing looks good, try offering 750 over to a local dealer to see if they bite. Likely similar incentives available at the dealer level nationwide
