Yes that's exactly the set-up I want to copy. This is been refined to near plug n play level and more development work underway. The Lexus transmission is a pretty slick item and you can find them in wreckers now dirt cheap. There is also an AWD version of the transmission that Lexus used with a Torsen that's 40:60 front rear biases and capable of 50:50.

The AWD is a rare rare breed. I think the transfer case can be pulled off a non-hybrid version and put onto the hybrid trans. I need to do more research on this.
Info on the specific center diff.

Any of the rwd hybrid versions on this list will use the hybrid trans.

I am still in the "watch for a clean E46 Touring" stage. I bought a nice clean E83 X3 with rare 6spd manual trans cheap a year back cheap so I could swap if first as a test bed. I would think I'd be able to sell the 3.0l and 6spd ZF box to cover part of conversion costs. Lots more research to do also on figuring out battery, I think finding a wrecked i3 would be good as the BMW battery is supposed to be a good item.

Gotcha. I was thinking the Lexus hybrid 2-speed was a specific transmission or family of transmissions but it sounds like you're saying most of them will work. There is a YouTube channel called Weber Auto or something similar where the guy dives deep into automatic transmissions. More educational than entertainment but a wealth of knowledge and great visualization. He's done a few videos on Toyota hybrids. It would be cool to see well-engineered electric swap kits become commonplace.

Yeah, I like that.
What happened to that color anyway, did manufacturers stop making it after the 90s?I still call it The Jake.

That E30 Touring is on BAT with no reserve. You can buy and swap to any rims you like.

I should hope the 2006 V70R walks all over the old 1990 3 Series tech.
Now let's level up that fight and see how it does in it's own class...E61 M5 Touring.

Agreed on the unfair 1990 matchup, but, rims aside, that bmw body style just does something for me. Meow.

Another reason to love Canada, we can import cars 15 years old. The 2007 can be brought in next year.
There appears to be 12 of them up on mobile.de

Bmw v10? Check the rod bearings and the smg actuators. Put $10-15k aside in a special account, just in case... Also, having had an e61 wagon, my opinion is that they are pieces of shit. Nice pieces of shit, but still pieces of shit. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.
