I read that. Sounds like 300 pound feet of torque works OK in the mountains.

Used IS12's that people take off with low miles to tune their cars to the bigger turbos seem to be $200 or so. Regardless probably a job I would try to do myself to save the $600 labor. I think the downpipe and everything else has to come out the bottom and that requires a lift to get it twisted out of there...maybe the biggest hassle.

I don't have a piece of shit CVT at least.

Anyway, still have a few years or 60k miles left on the factory warrranty and paid less for the wagon that a lot of people pay for a Chevy Cruze.
I think I saw a good diy vid from duetsche parts about is20 upgrade and the downpipe install procedure. They seemed to like the results. It has me curious...

Im considering one as the saab is costing more than its worth these days. I am looking partly because it seems like a nice ride for cheap and I have family that works for GM so I get another discount.

    Will update if I buy.

Did an Autotrader search on them yesterday. You can get low mile certified pre-owned 1-year old examples (and a few NEW leftover '18s) for around the $23K-24K mark. Seems like a really good buy if you're in the market for a new wagon. AWD too!

    Beautiful car, lust-worthy no doubt, but... $129,000 asking price. WHAT?!? I guess he's chasing this as a target - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-bmw-m5-2/ , but it's likely more of a $60-80k car - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-bmw-m5-touring/

Great car. Not so much for Utah though. My friend just sold his clean 1995 M5 with 80,000 original miles on it for less than $35,000.

Why is it not a great car for utah? Cause it is not AWD? I have a 95 540i and I drive it all over the place. Do I take it up the canyon when it's dumping on a powder day? No, Land Cruiser for that. But for everything else it kicks ass. Great for taking to the trailhead to ride, great for knocking an hour off the trip to ketchum. Great for driving to work in anything less than 6-8 inches. Hell, when I was selling my house in Summit park last winter, I drove it up there in the snow. Everybody thinking they need AWD all the time is stupid. some of the time, yes. but 95% of the time, no need.

    Everyone should have:
1 SUV with real 4wd, and high ground clearance.
1 sedan or wagon preferably RWD for enhanced driving dynamics
    1 sports car
    1 convertible
    sigless.

For those who canít, for one reason or another, accommodate a quiver of cars, this has been a really great little one car quiver.... as long as I can keep it on the road.

Iím lucky to have a couple options in the garage but this is my daily driver. Iím consistently amazed at how it does it all and still drives so damn fun in the twisties.

Top it off I was a Bimmer lifer to boot before this rig.

I wound't buy a v8 s4 the timing chain is a time bomb, you're better off bumping the boost on the 1.8/2.0T and having a better balanced car.

I was going to get one and deal with the chains, but the irreparable gouging cylinder walls is too much. No one wants the 4.2, definately not at $10+.

Was watching the news this morning and they were focused on the Royal family's connections to that Epstein creep and they showed a clip of the Royals heading to church yesterday and this caught my eye.

Nice to know Prince Charles and I daily the same car.

A bit of a change from the Euro Wagen stoke...

We took our 2012 Prius V on its first family vacation. 160k on it. Since it was brand new I've replaced some lugs and wheel nuts that were stretched, rear brake pads finally wore out (front pads still original), and I replaced all 6 of the burned out marker/driving lights/license plate lights with LED bulbs, spark plugs, and it does seem to have started sipping some oil, been in twice for recalls related to the invertor but we haven't experienced a failure. We averaged 38 mpg on this trip, 4 people and the 34 CF trunk stacked to the max - with the seats one notch forward the fishing poles and trekking poles fit in the slot between the seat and the trunk perfectly and my 6 foot 2 inch stepson still has loads of legroom and headroom plus room for a dog between the kids. Still amazes me how much interior room Toyota designed into this wagon. Lots 80 mph interstate driving where mileage seems to be 35 ish. In the mountains it was way over 40. Did almost 60 mpg from Salida to Denver of course. My wife thinks the mileage is lower after they updated the invertor programming to prevent it from frying itself. Who knows. It does seem a bit lower than when it was new but considering almost zero cash spent on fixing anything it has been a good little commuter for her that can double as a vacation wagon. Also the Orca holds ice for the whole week, allowing us to treat ourselves to ice cold beer and some fresh food when we return (pictured).
