Wagon Stoke
2015.5 with the T6. The the hauls ass. And solid handling to match the power.
I’m not much for fast starts off the line, but passing on 2 lane back roads it’ll do 50 to 90 like nothing. And the “etiquette” around here is for motherfuckers to speed up when you try to pass, which can get real sketchy without power.
Bought it with 50k mi for $30k and have put 100k mi on it in 3 years.
The only downside is paying lawyers for mrs jm2e’s speeding tickets.

Yeah with the R Design Polestar tune ours has another 25hp and higher torque and it really scoots. We just did a road trip and switched off driving and I had to keep telling her to watch it and she'd look down and be cruising along at big-ticket speeds.

Made very little difference. And mounting faring with cargo box was one of the biggest hassles I’ve ever endured.
Thanks to REI, I was able to explore about $1,000 worth of possible remedies to no avail.
Now that we’re down to one dog, we can keep more stuff inside and make most weekends without anything up top. Doing 90 to the bike park right now, enjoying some music. Quiet. Solid. This rig is a boss.

Sounds about right. My last sunroof, on a 91’ Golf was always noisy, even with the faring. The new whip’s is noticeably quieter even without a faring, so I probably won’t bother. Guessing it’s all a function of how air flows around the different body shapes, and roof gear, and fairings may have limited benefits beyond the obvious prime TGR/Believe sticker real estate.

Wagon Stoke
You have probably already experimented, but location and ramp angle of the box can have a huge impact. With my setup, increasing ramp by a few degrees or so and moving the box forward by 6” meant the difference between being able to talk normally or having to shout.
focus.

It was nearly unbearable in our Forester with the box up there until I put a sunroof visor on. I didn't feel like dealing with the fairing vs box setup hassle. I have bars arriving for our XC60 tomorrow so I guess I should go find a visor today and get ready.

gravitylover, looking forward to your reports. Anything you figure out can be helpful.
In all honesty, part of the “problem” is how fucking nice the cabin environment is (without roof gear) compared with Sube. Feels so luxurious, that when some extra noise started we felt cheated.

@jm The bars are supposed to get here today and I'll get the box up there soon and start figuring it out. The visors are cheap enough, hopefully it's as effective as it is on the Forester.

I figured some of you wagon lovers would appreciate this. I believe it is a diesel.

W123 were notoriously well-built, expensively made and rugged. Super cool what people have done with them around the globe

Killing some time looking at cars today and I see that just about every CPO/preowned AudiRS6Avant on the market nationwide right now is around $135-145K (stickers on some for sale show buyer paid around $115K, none for what dealers are currently asking).
Alternatively, you can pick up a slightly older (2018-19) CPO Porsche Panamera SportTurismo Turbo with similar mileage for anywhere from $90-115K.
I'm curious to see where this depreciation curve goes in the next year as a 500+hp wagon is getting me feeling all funny inside.I still call it The Jake.

I have a hankering for this Saab 9-3. V6, all wheel drive, 90,000 miles. Am I nuts?
