^This is why I like wagons.

I drove a Toyota truck, the old SR5 truck for years, wagons feel so much safer and way better to drive on windy, snowy roads.

We spent a few days on the uphill start on our dirt road. My daughter knows how to use the safety brake.

We did trucks different. Kids in the back was not uncommon.

My wife was raised that way and her first car had to be a stick. Sh intends to keep our 2017 Alltrack 6sp another 15yrs so the the babies can learn on a stick and she can drive the thing into the ground. I don't think a VW, even with the improved quality, will make it. But maybe we can replace it with one last manual car/wagon in a few years before they go extinct.

I've got 200k+ on the 1999 Audi A4 2.8 with stick in which I drove my first kid home. But he isn't interested in driving.

My daughter thinks the black manual 06 Volvo V70R with 140k+ on the dial is cooler.

Shit, well I guess we better plan on it - the boys came home in the Alltrack!

She's got the right taste, no doubt. An 850R/V70R has always been one of my lusts and growing up in N Seattle they were prevalent. A good friends parents in Ballard had/have? an '06 R in Titanium Gray that we all drooled over in HS. My friend got the hand me down cherry red 850 T-5 as his first car when the R arrived in the garage.

Cool kid stoke. Glad to hear that shifting ain’t dead yet.

Other than driving for real, I really like how it’s harder to text and drive with a stick.

When I first got my license, my parents had a 1989 BMW 535 with the 5 speed and straight six and a 1994(?) Volvo 740 Turbo wagon (automatic).

Both ripped a pretty solid donut.

yo B... maybe your daughter would be better suited in a 30 year old subaru? i'll trade you for that R, plus a pack of Hempler's

You two can duke it out. My money's on her, she's tough.

I'll assuage your losses with some scotch, a few bottles of wine and some mondo gourmandosizings.

Our estate is deftly seasoned with our vintage sleds, carefully beached in leafy alcoves or in our grandiose gravelled turnaround.

Our lawns are mostly car free except for the somewhat lumpy grass tennis court which occasionally harbors a voiture for a few days between the frequent and close hewings. After this weeks freshets I suspect I'll get out the roller and give the court a few passes to smooth over the winters wrinklings.

I do confess to a couple of old water heaters (lost another one this winter, it's been 14 years here) and the toilet I haven't had a chance to take to the dump since I got back.

So just about to pull the trigger on 2014 Jetta TDI Sportswagen. CPO. I have financing through CapitalOne, but letting the dealer run it as VW is running some deals right now so maybe I get a slightly better rate, otherwise I will stick to choice 1. I put a deposit on it, refundable. Black, 21K miles. 1 owner, no accidents, cherry. 2year unlimited miles bumper to bumper, then some extended crap due to dieselgate. only has the 16" alloys though, but I wasnt spending another 3K for those. All in $13K.

Hope I can get her in the next few days.

I just dont have the capital right now. I just finished a full home purchase/gut/reno last year, in cash. Car wasnt in the picture, but recent repair quote made the decision. It will be paid off faster as capital builds again.
