The 2.2L is bomber, I'm a fan. And the turbo changes the character quite a bit

I bought this car from the original owner with 222k miles on it. Still have that block stashed under the workbench as it looked great. Put the turbo motor in with like 120k on it, ran it to 203k (305k on the car) and did the rebuild in Nov/Dec 2017. Didn't need it at all, compression was good and the cylinders were clean... just kinda wanted to build a block. It revs smoother now though, as I had all the rotating assembly balanced.

Its goofy but also still a highly practical vehicle.

^ Reason: they're easier to get in and out of and better view?

I guess we're just that lame. Or tasteless.

I know you aren't bullshitting because we have the same story to tell.

My now 17 year old stepson drives my 02 Outback with a Baja spring lift and a manual and rust along with 5 spoke alloys with xice3's in the winter. He reports his friends think everything about it is awesome also. Maybe wagons will indeed be the new cool again. We can hope but it is Merica so probably not.

As for the rust, it is Iowa. All the cars in the high school parking lot have rust. The kids are blind to it.

Any idea what the r350 AMG package comes with? What's better and what's extra?

I test drove a few and the ride is way too plush for my liking. They were on 17 wheels so that was partly the reason it had too much dive in turns. Still, does the AMG come with stiffer suspension and sway bars? Yea my B7 is kinda rough, I am on koni FSDs with 034 rear sway bar but for me it's the perfect compromise.

I would suggest R500 if you don’t mind going back a few years. Or, the diesel. I would pick the V6 last. V8 came standard with 18 inch wheels.

Of the options I highly recommend the lighting package. The xenon lights are far superior to the halogens.

I’m not a fan of AMG for daily driving let alone a 7 passenger. The AMG has 19 inch wheels. Probably stiffer shocks. Xenon lights are included in AMG package

    Here’s a sales brochure from 2007.

Hoping for another smooth winter in my b8. I got some cheap winters last season and they performed pretty well.

Anyone else on Nexen Winspike? I mixed it up and went with a 225/50R17. Is skinnier better?

Shit it's almost that time again...

Whenever I get sad about our automotive reality or future, this thread redeems all hope and eve gets my pants a bit tight. Damn, I love me some wagons.

rdennhs, that's a sharp looking avant. I've been thinking of adding that same car to my stable as a run-about and sensible alternative to driving my big ass truck around. How's that iteration of the 2.0T?

Hell ya. Those are the fake rotors. 19"

I absolutely love the b8's revised 2.0t. My previous avant (b7) had the cam follower issue and I ended up getting Audi to take care of it, but it was a close call. (see image attached)

Thinking I may need to go in soon to have the timing chain tensioner(s) checked, I've read that's an issue on the b8.

I do want to eventually find a Q7 TDI but I don't forsee buying any other vehicle than Audi.
