I did a banzai run down from sun valley back to salt lake yesterday in my e34 sedan. If it hadn't been for traffic in Ogden Layton area, I would have made 3:45 easy.

So then you only have to pay to get it from the stealer back to your house so you don't have to get ass raped by the stealership.

That's actually a SUPER smart business and marketing move!!! This way they can funnel customers right to the dealer rather than have them get their car towed to an independent shop. If Volvo pays a tow company $50 or whatever it may be, the dealer EASILY recoups that cost many, many times over.

I'm actually surprised that it's taken an automaker this long to come up with this. I wonder how long until the rest follow suit. It's so bafflingly obvious (in hindsight), I'm shocked it hasn't been done by everybody for decades by now! Smart move, Volvo! I won't ever be using that service unless I absolutely had to, but smart move nevertheless.

Every new car comes with free roadside assistance. People who own old cars don't use dealers. I suspect this won't move the needle.

Oh, you'd be surprised when it comes to European vehicles. You'll still see old 240's and P1800s at the dealer here. Same goes for BMW, Merc, etc. You always see old cars at those places.

Sucks for me, but I have to replace the Infotainment multimedia module in my Volvo and soon the key fob slot that's starting to act up. I know how to get to it and replace both of those things. Unfortunately my local independent mechanic has advised me that even they can't do it since the dealer has some kind of proprietary specialty computer equipment to program both of those items for the VIN. Ugh. Gone without a radio for months in that car since I'm not willing to bend over just quite yet. This sort of dealer-only programming nonsense is NOT unique to my car unfortunately. It's a plague across the industry, and increasingly so. So yes, roadside assistance for old cars may definitely end up being used more and more.

The new Allroad might be coming back to the US. Could wagons be making a comeback?

Perhaps an Indy Volvo specialist will have the right tools. Ran into this kind of thing with my e90 BMW.

That thing looks rad. 4K seems reasonable. The tires alone would be close to a grand

I'd donate a kidney for a A6 allroad regardless of transmission.

Definitely a yes, I love Quantums. Though, if anything the lift makes it less attractive, IMO.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

I don't know about a kidney, but either nut would be acceptable to me.

Throw a DSG in that Allroad and I’d be sold.

Who are we kidding? We’d be lucky to get it on our shores, much less the RS6Avant that was rumored by C&D a couple weeks ago.

^^^^ Interesting comments on the car. Makes me want to dump money into my 2006 and drive it forever.

Try walking around St. Moritz Switzerland if you want to get the wagon chub going.

I do really enjoy the utility of the wagon without sacrificing drivability.

A few weeks ago I went for a bike ride with a friend, before I’d purchased the tray rack. Both our bikes fit in the back.

On the way back I took a “shortcut.” It was a dirt road that was going to save us an easy 5 minutes.... I guess I missed a turnoff. The road got sketchier and sketchier; you know the ones that go from a road to a two track to ruts through the woods..... I passed a lifted Jeep and a lifted Xterra and got some really skeptical looks from the drivers, which is when I should have turned back. Went through a couple of deep rutted (8”+, easy) sloppy wet muddy patches that she handled like a champ, just gunned it and squirmed through. Around when I passed a kid playing a banjo on his front porch I admitted that I had no idea where I was going, finally found a spot wide enough to turn around, and backtracked out of there.

The low profile wheels and etc aren’t really made for that and it took quite a bit of work to clean it all out of the wheels, brakes, etc. I had no business being back there, though. Impressed with the AWD system....
    focus.
