    Any Taos tourers out there?

Gonna be in town this weekend and looking to get out for a half-day tour or something along those lines.

If you're lucky like last Saturday Mr Bacon will be spinning the lifts for his bros and he'll probably not let you join...but maybe.

I'm not sure about my plans for the weekend yet, but the surest bet for you is something on the Williams Lake Basin. Look through this thread:

And keep an eye on this, maybe even post in it:

There are a few splitters on sb.com that tour around Taos. Might check there for some beta.

Was thinking of heading down myself to try and excape the Seattle that is Denver. Was wanting to ride my fucking bike but the weather isnt looking that great for there either. Angel Fire was 60% as of today and doubt the south boundary trail is good to go..yes/no?

A big clan of us are heading down there to ride. Figured I'd do a half-day ski too. South Boundary is no go. Angelfire should be fun - we're doing that on Sat..

Sounds like South Boundary might actually be good now. A couple friends climbed the jeep road and then descended from that junction.

Probably need to update the captcha thingie. If you want to get on you can PM me an email and user name and I'll sign you up.

I'm booked through the weekend, but you can always drive up to the Bavarian at TSV and skin to the top of Kachina - should be pretty good after Thursday's storm.

Luck on S. Boundary. Might be damp.

Damn it, probably a boner move but we decided not to make the drive. With thinking SBT was a no go and Angel Fire only being 60% open. How is it down there?

Pretty good. Angel Fire was muddy today, but will be all time tomorrow - no R word please. More trails opening too. Can't wait.

Thanks Meadow Skipper. I'll look into the skin on Monday morning. My friend's roommate might be down for getting out, and I guess she rips (comp skier who grew up here) , so it all just might work out.

    Heads up:
    http://www.nnmae.org/phpbb3/viewtopi...8&p=2665#p2665

Wilderness (aka wildy) Bowl is off the east/southeast side of Kachina Peak, going down to the Rio Hondo/Williams Lake drainage.

Thought you might like to know, depending on your plans.

Taos getting dumped! Anybody hit anything yet? I'm sure it's super limited, but there are lines to be had.

I understand your dislike for it but I have to admit......It looks like fun and I look forward to doing laps on that lift once I finally get there for some skiing!

There sure has been a lot of Taos hype as of late all over the interwebs. I guess it's a good and bad thing depending on where you are sitting but from what I can tell the mountain deserves it. I haven't been there yet but I'm thinking it's a lower 48 top ten for expert terrain from everything I have seen and heard. The video series the mountain has released this fall is so freaking cool. It's really impressive on all fronts. I'm a fan. Now I just gotta get there!

For sure top 10 terrain. Don't remember what rag did a top 10, but the list was pretty legit, and think they had Taos at #3.

I'm fine with the lift, don't go to a resort to hike.

    Awesome early season line.

Hot lapping that lift on a solid day is about as fun as inbounds can get. Wasn't sure how I felt about it, but a few pow days on it last season and I was sold. Erie Blake had already surveyed it, they even found the old pins when they put this lift in.

I agree with you, Meadow Skipper. That is true on Main Street, and other easier, meadow-like lines. But there are difficult lines, drops, cruxes, and cliffs once you get skills beyond the main lines. And to be fair, there have only been a few pow days when that lift has been spinning. I get that folks are upset about the end of a tradition. But I had my most fun inbounds days of the season in late Feb on that lift. Just sayin: fun lift.
