    A Basin mid may

Whats going on guys, going to be traveling to Denver for a couple days (may 16-19) and what to get some last minute turns in. They seem very operational now but does that change quick, obviously conditions play a major factor in the next couple weeks but in general ? Also any recommendations for a town to stay in with good night life that's within a 45 minute drive from the mountain ?

They are open until June 7th this year, but most of the steep stuff could be closing here shortly depending on snow. Their steep terrain tends to shut down earlier due to some issues with inbounds avalanches in the past. For your dates, more than likely you'll be confined to blues and greens, but again this all depends on the snow. The early riser parking lot also turns into a party the closer to close you get, which could be a fun alternative to skiing.

In terms of where to stay, look at Frisco, Dillon, or Breck. All within 30-45 mins and all have some decent nightlife options.

Thanks ! c_brown970, I feel like its an odd time to be going because most ski resorts are closed and not open for downhill mtb yet. It seems your very knowledgeable of the area. Anything you can recommend doing ?

Maybe go hiking around Summit County...but expect snow. If you head down in elevation towards Evergreen, Golden or Boulder, trails are awesome right now for hiking and mtb. Same if you go west from Summit to lower elevations of Eagle County.

Hopefully you decided to come out. We skied 6" new Sunday morning (this was after about five consistent 1" - 2" per day accumulations prior), and today they got another 6". The mountains is skiing utterly fantastic.

It's supposed to snow every day through Saturday too. This has been the WEIRDEST season in some time. Blanked in March, epic in late April and May.

    Have fun!
