WTB: Budget 7wt
Looking for a budget 7wt. Primary uses will be tossing streamers to trout, urban carp missions and misc stillwater around town for bass. Im still a newb and current quiver consists of lower end rods. For the right deal on a used one I might stretch a little. Might be interested in a package deal on an outfit but leaning towards an Allen Kraken which seems to get good reviews for a decent price especially with coupon codes.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but has anyone suggested you get the red one?

Well I know all ski boots suck except red ones but I was not aware that applied to fly rods. Since I know you comment was that its a jong ass request with not much info. guilty, just a fly fishing newb and want to mess around throwing some bigger bugs. My buddy does have a method that I have cast a few times, I liked it, its RED, but way out of my budget.
Douched.

I've had a few St. Croix over the years and really liked them. I have a 6 weight switch and 10 wt Spey and both have been amazing.

I have picked up a couple cheapo Echo rods over the years, mostly for specific trips or when I know I won't be using then very often. I actually really like them and always lean their way due to great customer service. I have fished a lot of rods over the years and I can tell you that cheapish rods (aka not garbage rods) cast fine if you put the right line on them. Find a used rod, buy a new quality line and don't look back.

Had a deal on an H2 fall through that I had fallen in love with.
Bump for anyone dumping rods to buy ski gear.

Echo 3 7wt, looks like it has gotten a little parking lot time, that's it. $120 shipped CONUS?

matt,
Hey I doubt the chance of success but should you ever see any fiberglass rods of the 60's forsale..probably to empty out a corner of a warehouse..Shakespeare made an 8'6" #7wt (fiberglass) that really kicked butt. Shakespeare made light and crisp-action(for glass) rods.. ...fwiw...HA..although spending time looking for stuff in the back of warehouses is pretty out of the box.. Kick myself for getting rid of that, and a #4wt, upon leaving home for college.
