Yes - we understand that you want SPAM Issues fixed. And we continue to work on that, however we are releasing a list of updates in the forum today.

1. Sidebar updates to standardize ad units and added additional value content widgets which include:

• TR Pick (currently highlighted trip report from The Stash)
• Stash Pick (currently highlighted content from The Stash)
• Photo Pick (currently highlighted photo from The Stash)
• Popular Content from the main TGR site
• Stash Upload Widget

2. Sticky navigation. If you scroll back up from far down the page the black bar utility nav will pop back in and you will be able to navigate within the forum categories drop down at any point on a page. This was a request of members when we launched the initial updates last summer.

3. Google reCAPTCHA on registration form to help with SPAM efforts

4. Slide-up to introduce forum members to their Stash Profile on homepage

5. Removed old forum profiles for the new Stash profile pages

6. Set the default theme to the white version. You can switch between the white and blue versions by the drop down box at the bottom of the forums.

Annoying. Not value added. I care about the page I'm reading in the forums, if I gave a shit about the stuff in the Stash I would go there.

Doesn't work for me. Not a bad thing, since I have a "Home" button on my keyboard that magically takes me back to the top of the page anytime I want.

Using Chrome on a PC -

The white header bar is huge. The black sidebar is even huger. The actual content on the page -- i.e. the stuff I want to read -- is now roughly only 2/3 of my entire screen.

In other words, it looks crappy.

It leaves tons of dead white space on the page, but at least the distraction is gone. Including the TGR logo in the header and the floating bars. I can now view content in the full height of my screen.

Yeah, I gotta add that I'm on 24" widescreen monitors both at work and at home. That makes the forum *useable* with the new giant-ass sidebar and such. God forbid I was still using my 17" monitor that I just replaced a couple weeks ago. The forum would be completely fucking unreadable on that thing.

The black sticky header that pops in and out is annoying as shit. Either have it there all of the time, or preferably, none of the time.

As stated, this Stash thing with the POPULAR THIS WEEK links and the big white bar at the top of the screen are not wanted or needed.

If I want to look at that stuff I can go find it. I want to read the forum, and I would like to read it in the full width and height of my screen.

Fix what's broken, not what works.

They've made huge improvements in both the forums and web content. They've done a really good job of upgrading over there.

I check the content everyday. Its almost all skier/member based TR's with none if the "TGR is sooooooo hardcore we make the best bro brah movies anywhere" corporate shit bring shoved down your throat.

The forums there are a ghost town right now, but that makes it ripe for us to make it our own.


I'm not affiliated with them in any way. Just think it's got some good ski dudes running it.
