How is the newish Backcountry skiing these days? I had a pair long ago (maybe a 12/13 model?). Kinda crazy they haven't changed the shape in so long. But as I look for a mid-fat for touring, I keep coming back to the BC shape and design and weight. It seems to fit right in the sweet spot. The topsheet on your model is suhweeet too.
I have a pair of Backland 107s, and they are not as floaty in pow, are too light and nervous and stiff, and lack the good vibes the BCs doled out in spades.Last edited by meter-man; 10-19-2020 at 11:07 AM.

Been stoked, I was coming off a Wailer 112 and like the BC better in pretty much every single condition even though they're narrower. I think the larger turn radius just makes them more surfy in pow and more stable and less twitchy in the chop. Think they're still doing 40% off right now too if you're looking for a little bit of a deal on a pair.

187 stock Protest. Gonna mount -1.5 and hopefully experience nirvana.

Probably worth a bump, considering that the Spring custom sale is on.

I think they ran that top sheet for a few years. I skied some Protests that had that top sheet but solid black bases. I also think the stock builds during those years were the same, so unless you are dealing with a custom build you’re probably looking at a stock second generation Protest, which is an amazing soft snow ski. Go ski them and don’t worry about nuance between years and versions. They are all awesome!

They're 192s like yours, but got I just bought them from said he bought them in SLC a couple years ago. This will be my first pair of Praxis, so I was just curious about the skis and wanted to read up on them. Taking them out this weekend at Bachelor if the storm pulls through.
