Also, it's not hoarding.... it's, uh, collecting?

We don't have any hanging on the walls, though. Maybe that's more advanced blanket ownership and will just come from experience?
Why are you collecting coarse blankets?

Because they're comfortable, why else would a person hoard blankets?

I have had a Western Mountaineering Antelope SMF for 25 years and I'm pretty sure it's gonna last another 25 years.
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

I'm still considering that Yeti cooler. So much cooler management to learn, though, at this late age. Maybe just buy a Martin guitar and learn to play that.

    End-Of-Life Purchases

More appropriate would be a Lifetime cooler. The one I recently purchased is great. Ice packs still frozen after six days and five nights on the road. Not very good cooler management either. The 77 qt I bought was less than half the price of a 45 qt Yeti. The 55 qt Lifetime was less than a third of the price of a 45 qt Yeti. Made in the USA too.

Buy the Lifetime and the Martin.

You don't have that much time to think it over. Better make up your mind.
If you go the guitar route, buy a cheap guitar with easy action and see if you decide to stick with it before you buy a Martin or other nice guitar.
I've played guitar since I was 12 but when I decided to teach myself dobro a few years ago I found it's a lot harder when you're not young. But it's a cheap dobro so I don't feel too bad about it. Glad I tried the dobro instead of going straight to pedal steel, which was my ultimate goal.

Maybe not an end of life purchase but 8 years ago I bought pricey hand made leather shoes for my wedding. I’ve been wearing them a few times a week since then and they’re perfectly worn in. They’ve been resoled twice and outlasted many sets of laces. I don’t think they’ll fall apart any time soon.

Made me realize what utter shit quality most other shoes are.

I've been wearing the same pair of shoes since 1995 or 1996. Agreed on spending for a damn good pair, like most anything.

You would think the velcro would have worn out by now.

The only footwear I have ever worn that contained any element of velcro were some stock shitty booster straps.

BTW, the shoes I reference are http://www.limmerboot.com/walker.html

Man I've had the same pair of booster straps for over 20 years for sure. Can't see buying more unless I lose them.

The quality of posts on these last few pages has been right up there with the best of em.

Sleep well in your coarse blankets Mags so you can be ready to strap on the Velcro tomorrow.

@ mallwalker: they're straps with some heavy-duty elastic, you tighten them above your top buckle and it tightens the boot/shin conection and transfers energy from you through your boots and down to your skis more efficiently. I've always liked them, use them every day skiing. https://boosterstrap.com

You mean the exquisite little inconvenience that us regular folks who wear tennis shoes or the occasional python booth may know by the name of stink foot?

Every time I buy a new pair of skis I think it's an end-of-of life purchase but I'm always wrong. So far. Currently a pair of last season's Enforcer 93's for the groomer days waiting for bindings.

I stockpiled skis 10 years ago: I think I have the greatest stash of early dps lotus 120s of anyone. Plus a lifetime pass or two.

They are the only pair of shoes that I've owned since then other than my cowboy boots. I wear them all the time. Linked above.
