Insulated Travel Mugs: What's Your Daily Driver?

Time to refresh the quiver- the three in my rotation are pretty beat. Do I suck it up and shell out for the Zojirushi? Do I lurk around campus job fairs looking to snag an array of shitty but free mugs? HELP.

    Contigo [endthread]

Positive locking means you won't leave it open and have your shit get cold in 20 minutes, since all the insulation in the world won't stop you from leaving the lid open. It also means you can play catch with it while wearing your $2,000 lawyering suit and not worry about it. Keeps my coffee hot for 5 hours at a pass. New models are easier to clean than the original.

Worth every penny. Costco and Amazon sometimes have them on the cheap.

    Not enough info.

Handle? No handle? Fits in car cupholder? How big are your cupholders? Need to be completely watertight so you can use it as a football? Keeps things warm for 30min while you gulp your coffee on your commute, or do you want it warm for hours so you can sip your latte slowly untill lunchtime?

    Get the red one.

Contigo fills all of the above criteria.

Get the Contigo. All others are inferior due to the critical flaw in the lid, unless someone else makes an auto closing lid.

Stanley one is auto closing. Pretty spill-proof...as long as you don't drop the lid while cleaning and having to snap it all back together.

been testing a bunch this winter, so far just soso results. Would be swell to have piping hot coffee in the backcountry or when I return from a tour.
    These work ok..

    Forge from CamelBak
    18 oz Hydroflask

I am going to have to look into the Zojirushi and contingo. I am not nearly tough enough to be running around with a Standley anything, leave that for the dudes on the job site.

Since you asked, I was working in a gear shop some time back and got a killer deal on a Snowpeak Kanpai 350. Spendy, probably not worth it, but it works great, and is elegant as shit. And, a beer can fits inside to keep it cold.

Those Zojirushis remind me of the Snowpeak.

I'm on my third one of these Thermos brand ones, I broke the clasp on the first two from hard drops but on the current one they've improved the closure system and the plastic is less rigid, had it for 2 years now and no issues. It's pretty burly, fits in my inside jacket pocket well, no fear of spillage and will stay scalding hot for 24 hours. Perfect for chairlift americano sips.

And Contigo fits in a standard bike water bottle cage perfectly.

40 minute bike commute in -15 C temps and my coffee was always still hot.

No handle. Decent size cup holders. Want a tumbler style with an easy-sip pin' kinda top, not a thermos with a screw-off top or a flip top. I have a Zojirushi that's more of a thermos style with a screw-off top and it's great once I'm at my desk, but annoying on the drive in.

They are regularly on sale here at 2 for $15. Fucking steal. Best $7.50 mug I've ever owned. Will never shell out more than that again. I even have run them over with my car. Try last until I leave one in the lot or on the top of my car as I drive away.

100% spill proof, mine is 15? years old, still going strong. At the time was the only 100% spill proof (like close and throw into a bag) that I could find.

    x2.

$25 and change on Amazon right now. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FFADO8A/...ing=UTF8&psc=1

This mug should end all discussions. 1000% spillproof. They have the same mug with a handle and that is what I have, the wife has the tumbler with no handle. I've had my mug for several years. It keeps coffee hot for 8-12 hours even when almost empty and even in the winter. Yes the trade off is that you have to screw the lid on every morning and back off in the evening, and to drink from it you flip a lever instead of pushing a button so you lose style points. This is mug for people who love drinking hot coffee more than they love earning style points.

Put your coffee down and drive.

There was a reason BMW refused to put cup holders in their cars for so long (but caved to American pressure.)

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...
