Right?
And here I go, epic-ing it up a notch:
Since I wear glasses, "all day every day" is literal. I can't be shifting around from one thing to another and I gotta see. So I just get pimped-out regular glasses. Not sure what the frames on these ones are, they're titanium, sturdy, but not crazy expensive. The lenses are polarized, "scratch-protected" (doesn't really work too well) and UV coated and they are Transition Xtractive, which is the good stuff. They get very dark fast in the sun, lighten up fast inside, and work to a degree in the car (most photo-chrome glasses don't). The lenses are pretty much the shit.

^^I look just like the guy in the link! No I don't.

Of COURSE they should. You would probably fall over if you knew how little it cost to make a pair of $300 sunglasses. It's not as if they are being individually handcrafted by a meticulous artisan...they're poppling out of a plastics extruding machine at the assembly rate of thousands per hour. The lenses, I'm sure, are a little more complex of a build, and then the tiny hands that snap the lenses into the plastic frames (a nine yr old's tiny hands, perhaps?). Tack on aggregate assembly costs, wages for the nine yr old assembler, fancy lunches for the factory managers, pay-offs to the police, etc etc, and it STILL isn't going to to top $20 per unit item!!...yet the things cost $300 in the store????
The owners of the sunglass companies literally ARE laughing on their way to the bank. It's truly a manufacturer's wet dream."The reason death sticks so closely to life isn't biological necessity - it's envy. Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it; a jealous, possesive love that grabs at what it can." by Yann Martel from Life of Pi

Newsflash: It's not about the frames.
