I dunno. They sound washed. They really have no more 'groove.' DLR sounds hoarse.

Hagar and Michael Anthony's Chickenfoot sound really good though.

I want to like Chickenfoot but it's just too average sounding for me. I do appreciate Satriani but not on this.

I'm hoping for a VH euro tour. Doesn't matter what DLR sounds like, Eddie is legend.

Just depends whether you'd rather hear Sammy sound great on Best Of Both Worlds & Right Now or Dave straining to get through Everybody Wants Some & Atomic Punk. I'll take the latter every time!

i like powpig. we need to party sometime.

i saw Van Halen twice, Women and Children First and then Fair Warning, absolutely at their peak imho. me and a buddy hung out at the backstage door and met David Lee Roth, who was drunk off his ass at 1pm, staggering around with a bottle of jack. he hung out a while and chatted with us. he was super obnoxious but that just added to the fun.

i did see Van Hagar once, i think it was the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge tour. i went because Alice in Chains was opening (first album tour). they were nearly booed off the stage the entire set. i remember layne staley sang love hate love in a squatting fetal position while being pelted with drink cups. i wanted to punch all the people around me.

for the record, Van Hagar fans are idiots.

^ in the day, dude on my hall, could play that shit note-for-note. Eruption, Ice Cream man, etc. He said the spanish fly flamingo stuff would give him some trouble but that was about it. incredible talent.

    RIP bill.

Ha - I caught that show in Philly. Staley/AIC did the same exact thing there. They were booed incessantly.

Ha! I think the proper response here is "no Dave, you make sure your nose is OK and go home. Well finish up the show without you"

The music used to be good. They always sounded like they were hollering instead of singing. Now, the music sucks and they sound like they are still hollering.

Sammy made them sound good. They had some groove and melody on those albums. Even with original VH, there was some semblance of a band playing together making music.

Now, DLR appears to be really trying hard to entertain. But the rest of the band looks stuck and there's no groove.

Eddie and family rule the roost and have lost the train. Even bad Ozzie sounds better than the current VH.

I'd rather be stuck in a room alone with DLR talking crap than have to bear witness to any more of Eddie's supposed groove.

Too bad. Perhaps Eddie will come out of the cave and get together with some good musical influences (not likely since he takes pride in saying that he doesn't listen to other music).

I'm afraid that this is the last curtain on this terrible band from the 80's.

Sammy and Mike and DLR have a future.

That is the thing that pisses me off about EVH and that article. He undoubtly is a musical genius on a whole other level. And right now he is absolutely being a selfish asshole by "giving the fans what they want" and making more Van Halen music even though there is nothing innovative or creative about that anymore. My greatest wish as a long time Van Halen fan is for the band to sease to exist. Eddie should take a bunch of DMT or something and pick up that oboe or piano and let his genius out without regard for VH fans.

Wow, ur a real pencil dick. Ask any musician what they would say about old van halen. Not a fan boy, but u couldn't more incorrect in ur assessment.

I'll admit. It was a bit disappointing reading Eddie's latest interview. He's OK. Listening to 1984 (the last few songs, not the popular ones) brought a bit of my good will back.

I hope they get past playing their old stuff and make something more current and inspiring.

Long live VH. But I hope not too much longer doing the same old.

How has the VH crowd received Kenny Wayne Shepard as the warm up band?

He played the Belly Up the night before Red Rocks and totally killed it.

Tickets for the 8/11 Xfinity Center show in MA were on Groupon for like $25.

Shit. Just noticed the Nickelback concert there was cancelled.
