TR: Three days in Lofoten, Norway

    Music https://youtu.be/hN_WEmNsrQI

Not much is certain about traveling to lofoten, but you're gonna get some kick-ass mountains and a lot of weather.

    Fighting the wind on Pilan

Ski crampons came in handy on the rain crust

Hunkering down, hoping for a weather window. We didn't get one.

So we found a cafe full of pink hearts

    Temptations everywhere. Skiing...

    ...or culinary

The storm turned from a warm and wet southwestern to a colder northwestern. Yay, snow!

    A perfect morning in Henningsvær

With sun, fresh snow and little to no wind we headed for Geitgaljartind

    Down 102L. $$$$

    Booting up the final stretch

    Checking out the south gully.

    Stable conditions. Green light!

    Summit to sea

    Yep.

One of those places you just don't wanna leave...

Pictures never do justice but your pics come damn close. Lots of poster-size worthy shots. I think this one is my favorite. Ansel Adams goes skiing.

Lovely pics of a beautiful region. And looks like the snowpack is decent down to sea level?

Ah you know, getting older and fatter, having kids, skiing less - compensating with new, shiny and marginally lighter gear. The old story. And I figured it was about time to learn how to do a p-turn...

AFAIK the wwII fighting was mostly narvik and at sea outside of lofoten. There was the battle of Trollfjorden though, in 1890: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trollfjord

I see you were skiing with Mark and Erin! Great photos! Some day. Maybe sooner than later, but someday.

We were a big group of people, but no Mark or Erin as far as I know. We were unguided though, are they with one of the guide companies?

Ah my mistake. They posted an almost identical photo of an almost identical couloir a week or so ago. Yep, they're guides with Seth's outfit.
