Canada DIY pike fishing recommendations
Buddy and I are planning a DIY trip to Canadia to chase pike on the fly summer 2016. Looking for some lakes not to far north of the border, a place to rent a cabin and able to launch a 16' boat with an outboard. Any ideas would be great.

Check out the Caddis Fly Shop Blog, http://oregonflyfishingblog.com/ , and search for Canadian pike. Those guys do a family trip every year to some lakes and cabins north of Minnesota that's all DIY and looks pretty sweet. I believe their spot is accessed via train only but the cabins come with boats it seems.

Canada DIY pike fishing recommendations
The Winnipeg river system and the Red river in Manatoba are fantastic.
Lake of Woods.
Countless lakes, portages and river systems in northern Wisco and MN. Southern Manitoba and Ontario are flush with water too.

I'll second Lake of the Woods. Very cool experience up there with bonus Esox opportunities as well. Rent a houseboat and make a trip out of it. We've done houseboat whitetail trips up there so if you want any more info just let me know.
