    Great deal for a 15", non-touchscreen chromebook

what makes you say that? I dont understand? The point of these chromebooks is that you're tied to the "cloud" storage, streaming, docs, etc. doesnt use up disk space on a chromebook.

I recently bought an ASUS C302. I am super happy with it. Use it for home computing, steaming, minor photo editing. Cheaper than an iPad with the same fit and finish, multiple usbc ports, and a keyboard.

Check out the Samsung Pro and Acer R13. Same class of high end chromebook.

I am an obvious Cloud Jong. Never have used it except for drop box. Most of the software I run would never be able to be loaded on the tiny hard drive.

Can't load any software locally. It's basically an internet "dumb terminal" there are some offline features but most revolve around Google's ecosystem products. Gmail, docs, sheets, etc.

Got it. For my needs I need a standard lap top. I bought my last few computers from the Fujitsu clearance web site but have not seen any good deals there over the last year.

Chromebooks (biggest of the cloud tied devices out there now) are smart computers, with processor, memory and very limited storage capacity on the device- but it is tied to Google online services and apps. Think of a internet terminal or using a browser that without any internet has more limited capabilities as there are no local applications like Office suite or standard software that gets installed...

Chromebooks are not as handcuffed offline as people think.

Google docs, sheets, slides works offline.

Polarr and Pixlr the photo editors work offline.

Most video, audio and music streaming apps allow you to download content and stream offline.

    What else do you need?

If you buy a $100 chromebook with 1gb of memory and 16gb of storage, offline use is still fine, but limited.

If you buy a $400 chromebook with 4gb of memory and 64gb of storage - you basically have a PC laptop with chrome OS.

I don't use a Chromebook (much), but I remember hearing recently that Android apps would be install-able on them. And it seems that *might* be a limited reality now?

I have an Acer CB C720-2800 ZHN from 2013 that I still use on the reg. It's the 4GB/16GB model. I like it better than the newer Samsung I bought to replace it. It handles casual web usage just fine. It's nice and light. I don't store much on it so 16GB is fine. I had intended to use Crouton on it, however I then decided I actually liked the relative security of the stock CB. The track pad has developed a no click zone. And the wifi occasionally has flaked out.

Looking at the two base models the P51 has double the memory, four times the disk space and a faster processor for the same price.

Yup, I'm just polling/trolling for negative slashes at Lenovo, otherwise that seems to be the obvious winner.
