    School Me on Microsoft OneNote

Is it worth using, esp. now that it is free?

    Great for taking meeting minutes
Education must be the answer, we've tried ignorance and it doesn't work!

Great Product. OneNote 2013, that comes with office, is amazing. The One Note app is not as powerful, but nicely streamlined for taking notes.

I like it better than Evernote.

It is more free form on your computer, you can type or paste anything anywhere on the page.

I use it for meeting notes and for reference of random stuff.

Are you the type that wants to be able to write up items on your computer and be able to retrieve them, search them, etc? Good for outlines, important links and web site stuff for a topic.

As mentioned the major alternative is Evernote and this is a pretty good comparison between the 2 packages:

Evernote has always been free, had mobile versions also since the early days. Microsoft has just caught up with mobile and making it free in the last year to year and a half.
