I love my wife and all, but Jesus Hercules Christ...

For most people unloading the utensils from the dishwasher when they aren’t sorted into specific zones isn’t that challenging

At best you might save 30 seconds but use that up dealing with the still dirty ones that ended up spooning with each other

Are you guys actually loading bowls - like for cereal - face down?

Mine are loaded on edge, and no issue getting clean. I’d be doing twice as many cycles if I loaded them horizontally upside down (my kids eat a metric shit tonne of cereal).

Also, each division in the cutlery basket gets one of each utensil max. No twins, that’s asking for trouble.

    ....
If by "on edge" you mean leaning on each other at ~45 degrees, then fine. 90 degree edge loading is right out, however.

I think there is something to the on-edge theory, maybe the water jet hits the food at just the right angle

I got door issues on an old kitchen aid, the latch is rather flacid so the door pops open mid cycle

I use a 3$ garage sale bar stool to wedge the door closed

Come to think of it I mitigate a lot of problems with a bar stool

You can’t do that with forks and spoons in dishwashers with utensils slots like that ^

Seriously, what engineer decided it was a good idea to have to put utensils in upside down? Having to remove them by grabbing the end that goes in your mouth is downright barbaric.

You lift up the holder and insert from the bottom?

You pull the whole tray out. You set it on counter. You grab the utensil by its neck. You put it in the drawer. You don’t have to touch the part that goes in your mouth.

I thought someone was kidding about us needing a dishwasher loading thread…

This is an ongoing battle in our house w the hand washed flatware and knives. My wife insists on putting the handles down in the rack and I’m in the handles up camp. Her logic is that putting the ends that go in your mouth in the tray is gross because…it’s dirty. I don’t really care if that’s her method, but she’s livid if I don’t do it her way

I've started hand washing all dishes and it's awesome. If we have a lavish dinner and I use multiple mixing bowls I will think about the dish washer but wtf. All of our pots/pans and most cooking utensils are handwash.

My wife wanted new flatware so I bought the Alessi SS I wanted and it's handwash only. I knock it out during the baby's morning nap.

Dirty side up gets them the cleanest.

    Unless you’re some OCD germaphobe.

You’ll suck your wife’s butthole but god forbid she touches the mouth end of the fork while putting them in the drawer.
