The only time my wife drives and I’m in the car with her is when I’m drunk.

The one hand at 6 o’clock underhand grip drives me nuts. Over steering then over correcting constantly.

She’s lost her driving privileges......(just don’t let her find out I said that)

Even worse. It was in Seattle.

It was an SUV so the trunk was open. Everyone but the driver had been drinking. Seat selection was based on height/weight. It had been a while since I drank with swim team people.

My Mom does that same exact kind of thing. She apologized to me once, while driving, for the light being red.

    Maybe I am your brother,

My mom refused to get her cataracts fixed, so she would stop a couple of car lengths behind the line to make sure she didn't go to far. Finally rear ended some guy in astopped car and got them fixed.

Jesus H Christ, when the fuck is she going to learn that you can't pull a hunk of meat out of the freezer at 10am, leave it on the counter until 5, put it in the oven and expect to eat it at 6:30. Its 8:45 and the meat thermometer just broke 120 deg. Everthing else is pretty much cold because it came out of the oven at 6:45.

A bit of tension in the air tonight. Wife is a regressing technophobe. Her 25yr old ipod/mp3 player finally gave up the ghost last summer, so her source for music while camping is no longer available. She was trying to get my input on the relative value of mp3 players, cause ya know, electronics are cheap right now. I tell her she has a music player on her phone, and she needs a new phone anyway as her old one is getting low on memory. Nope, researching for a new phone is far too much pain. I tell her that her iPad also have the ability to store and play music, just have to pair it with the media computer that has our music library and at the least organize some playlists in iTunes. She gives me a look like I have horns growing out of my head. She gets upset, saying I am not helping her find a way to play mp3's camping.
She is a staunch denier of accepting the simplest changes in tech like apps instead of programs. I am being mean and hurtful trying to explain she needs to take a bit of responsibility for understanding some basic nuances of modern electronics - I mean our daughter is 8 and latches on tech like any young person, so this is going to get very interesting in short order.

^^ There are actually good reasons to get a new MP3 player these days: They're cheap, small, and (get one that lets you add a 64gb mini-SD) have a ton of memory. For camping, in particular, it's nice to have a player that doesn't draw down your phone battery. In the gym, you can just clip it onto your shorts so you don't need to drag your phone around. Granted though, there's still a device UI to get used to.

Downloaded music via Spotify to a Bluetooth speaker is just so so much easier then messing with an mp3 player.

This coming from someone who took forever to move on from the mp3 player.

Looks like the deal ended but unless she has to have an Apple product (ITunes and all that Apple centrist stuff) something like this should be considered: https://slickdeals.net/f/14739038-b-...-free-shipping And in the comments of that discussion someone linked a Bluetooth capable similar but different brand model that could be checked out on Amazon. Any of the little Sansa players would be just fine for a few days out in the woods, would never want to take a tablet just to have music... And a phone playing music would work, but the battery would not last forever so now you have to add an external power charger like Anker or similar to keep it charged.

Heh, I should have been more clear. Since having our daughter, my wife doesn't 'camp' with anything less than a 20ft trailer, with all the amenities and plenty of power for multiple devices. We have at times even brought a laptop when my work needed to travel with us.

I brought up the downloading music streams option, and the response is that we don't have wifi/cell coverage when camping. When I asked her to explain what an MP3 file even was, she almost came to tears. For her tech shouldn't change. A hammer's form always remains a hammer. When tech changes the way it performs a task, mostly due to new UI, she gets very angry. She is stuck in Windows XP, Win10 is a great source of frustration for her.

I told her to just buy the MP3 player. I hope my advice was devoid of any evidence of snark, but I suspect her snark receptors are on ultra sensitivity, so I probably failed. Thanks for the tip on getting one with expandable SD memory, Bobz. That might be my olive branch to salvage the start of 2021.

Well, good luck. BTW, Win 10's settings can be massaged to make it closely resemble Win XP.

My wife likes her MP3 player, as long as I'm the one who loads it with what she wants. If only she'd learn how house thermostats work; you don't, in fact, need to turn it way up when it's cold, and then turn it way down when it starts to get warmed up.
