Hilarious. Looking at a shopping list is like being a Windtalker during WWII.

I promise it wasn't personal that I bought Honeycrisp instead of Gala and I the reason I didn't buy a metric shitton of chicken instead of a reasonable amount is because you never told me your sister's family was coming over this weekend with all their chicken loving kids.

We've been trying to eat different stuff rather than rotate the same handful of dishes, so to the Internet for recipes we go. That part is (relatively) ready aside from avoiding the stuff the one or the other of us dislikes.

But when she makes a shopping list from the recipes, there are never any quantities, and she rarely checks to see what we already have on hand. So I'm left to guess whether "oregano" on the list means we actually need more, or that she didn't look and see that we've got half a jar. If I ask her while I'm trying to put the actual list together, she complains that I take too much time to do it. If I guess wrong, it's clearly my fault.

It's probably also why I like Hannaford to go more than she does--I don't mind creating an actual list, rather than just a skeleton of one; she'd prefer to write down half the stuff she plans to buy and assume she's going to see the rest and remember that she needs to buy it.

MY wife used to do that and still does that on occasion, but now I simply tell her Homey don't play that when i see it on the list before i go shopping. Clearly a no win situation trying to guess.

Of course that is not always in my best interest because when I am looking for some action i sometimes get Homey don't play that.
