In MD's defence, I added that bit.

What did Salomon have to do on their end to build the 1080? Can you explain the back-and-forth with them on developing that ski? Was it a game-changer for them? And what was the experience like the first day you skied on them?

Two trapezoids are similar. The ratio of the sum of the bases of the larger trapezoid to the sum of the bases of the smaller trapezoid is 5:4. If the height of the smaller trapezoid is 20 cm, what is the height of the larger trapezoid, in centimeters?

When you were disqualified from the skeleton race at the 2010 Olympics for removing your runner covers too late, did you just want to grab a NBC hot mic and scream out loud that the IOC could suck your ball sack?

You are the Canadian Mike Douglas, right?

Whistler or Blackcomb? No corporate mumbo jumbo answers either, everyone has a favourite.
Where is winter? Is this season a bust or will Feb/March deliver?
What is your summer activity of choice?

Do you think W/B should run a tram/gondi/lift up the other side of town and open it up euro/Silverton style?

Keep up the great work MD. SFSTV is probably the only series I consistently watch.

You did a D-Spin at 40. Are you planning a D-spin at 50? First hand info says your spending more time in the park these days...is this a comeback or is it your kids forcing you.

    Is FIS killing freestyle?

Record breaking gondolas and large trams are easy and publicity rich targets for some crazy jihadist with a backpack full of explosives.

What will happen when terrorists finally come to the ski slopes?

What ever happened to Vinny Dorian? I know he doesn't ski Salomons, but can you drag him out and give him a cameo on a SFSTV episode?

    Torn ACLs?

Mike- I am threading from GTNP, WY the greatest place to ski, well maybe 2nd in your eyes.. Anyways, I tore my ACL in early August but was cleared by doctors to shred mid December. I have been riding well (droppin 20 footers and hitting jumps) and my knee just gets a bit sore from time to time.

How many folks do you know who ski with no surgery and no ACL and of course ski their brains out?
How long have they been doin it?
How many folks do you know who have had ACL Surgery and are still killin it?
Been feeling really down about my injury but tryin to keep my head up.. Thanks for reading and hopefully replying!

Yes, I think being short makes flippy doodles a bit easier, but there are plenty of big guys that are pretty damn good.

No US Air force that I'm aware of.
Uhhh, no. But I do like Salmon.
Japow seems to be the only place delivering this year, so yes.

    Dear Mr. Douglas:
On behalf of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, I cordially invite you to come ski with us and experience the wonderful skiing that we have to offer. At our world famous luxury resort at Masikryong, you will be treated like royalty and enjoy four-star accommodations, food, and amenities, and if so desired, "comfort women" to share the experience with. As your home mountain is Whistler, you should already feel comfortable skiing among Asian people, but unlike Whistler you will not have to deal with Australians and rain at the base. Should you wish to film your experience, we only ask that you respect areas that are off limits to video equipment, but these are clearly marked in English and Canadian as well as Korean.
As a reminder, the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea fully embraces the Juche philosophy. The Juche idea is based on the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything. It is the man-centred world outlook and also a political philosophy to materialize the independence of the popular masses, namely, a philosophy which elucidates the theoretical basis of politics that leads the development of society along the right path.

    Respectfully,
    Kim Jong-un
Supreme Leader, Democratic People's Republic of Korea

    Have any good Abma stories?
No, I invented all of it.
You just need to commit. Seriously though, the new Salomon touring boot is the best thing I've skied in for a long time.
You're welcome. It's hard to pin down a fav, but I think Glastnost-Ski was the one where I felt certain I had the best job in the world.
Abma parties as hard as he skis. That fact has definitely given us a lot of laughs over the years.

Anyway, thanks in advance for taking my question. Oh, and what's the easiest way you've instructed someone how to throw a D-spin?

    Thanks,

    Bmillskier in ATL.
I loved those skis too. They are really light. Don't have any though.
The best way to learn a D Spin is to go to a summer camp where you can try on water ramps, airbags, and soft snow.

I also would like to learn how to throw a D-spin from the man himself.
Freestyle skiing is in a tough spot right now. Progression is reaching it's limits of sanity and relatability. If everyone starts doing triples, it's going to get boring fast. The only future is creativity. I saw some glimmers of hope at this years X Games.

Was that a slow transition? Or did you have an "aha" moment to do that?

How did you get the skills to shoot and edit movie footage?

How did you get the public speaking skills for speaking and TV engagements?

What advice would you give to young ski pros or wannabes to have a long - term career at skiing?
It's been a pretty slow and gradual transition. I've always been the oldest guy out there so I always had one eye on the future and life beyond pro skiing. I didn't think I'd be able to be a pro skier this long.

I've been dabbling in filmmaking for quite a few years. No formal training, just learning things from the people around me. I still have a lot to learn.

Since I was the oldest guy in the scene back in the 90s, everyone told the media to go 'talk to Douglas'. I used to be terrified to speak publicly but I felt pretty confident talking about skiing because I was living and breathing it. Confidence to do other stuff grew from there.

Advice: There's a lot more to being a pro skier than just being a good skier. Nobody owes you anything. If you want longevity, don't be an asshole.
