    Bachelor?

Heading to Bachelor in a few weeks and from afar, it seems to be suffering the same fate we've got in Idaho: great start followed by too warm, refreeze, and no snow in the forecast.

Should I just bring some GS skis and hope for the best?

My plan is now to very quietly pack all my skis under the cover of darkness the night before leaving and put a blanket over them in the box. The morning I leave, I'll make a scene out of bringing the GS skis out of the house.

    What could possibly go wrong?

If limited to one pair for traveling, bring the GS skis. The Plankery (next to Cascade Lakes Brewpub on Century) rents a good selection of ON3Ps for the deep days you might encounter.

Oh, I'm just driving from Boise so I'm not limited at all, fortunately.

Among other things, I'm going to have my new-to-me Megawatts, so with any luck there'll be the snow to really let them shine.

^^^ Best to not disclose bringing megawatts to avoid being accused of being the snow jinx.

Relative to most of the skiing here last year, Bachelor wasn't half bad, if not a bit rainy here and there.

I'm completely convinced that the Megawatts fucked us all over, though.

    boots, poles

Is there a good place in Bend or Sisters to rent boots and poles. I have my ski setup ready to go. Just don't have good boots yet.

New this season to Bachelor, but have 15 days in so far. Hard to say weeks out, but snow has been good, and Sunday when I was out last, still soft snow to be found in the trees, and still some rare untracked snow in spots.

As far as rentals, there's a shop at the mountain but I'd suggest Skjersaa's. Good people, and my favorite shop to work with (new to Bend so take my advice with a grain of salt)

    watch out for wind

GS skis are a good idea... might be less likely to get to catch the damn wind on the chair.
