This definitely could be a good year in the Transverse and Peninsular Ranges. Fingers crossed for y'all.

I purchased a Baldy pass. Also have mountain collective, so 2 free days at Mammoth. Seemed like the El Nino years I have been around for were all very warm, so snow wasn't the best. Some storms would start out cold and turn to rain and then clear off and freeze, so fewer good powder days than a "normal" year. But there was a deep snow pack and the spring skiing was off the charts good.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Got your PM, cheers! Not a bad deal. Not having to deal with the virtual pass and day tickets will be great. A few years ago when I had the virtual pass it was alwasys so annoying to have to wait in line with the sledders to get a ticket and board chair 1.

I hear there's some rowdy stuff at Vegas if it's deep and you're willing to climb. Interesting location for a lift line on looker's left.

^^^ Umm... Isn't that the slide path that killed a kid by ripping him off the chair in 2005?

I'd assume so, but I've never been up there and wasn't familiar with the layout when I read the story. Hope they have a canon to clear those paths.

Skied there a couple of times. Once down the slide path in May. Once lookers right in the trees a month after the infamous slide in knee deep pow. Great hike to stuff there. I believe Mr Powder is still patrolling there. I think they got a better gun after that fatal day.

Headed up to Mammoth tomorrow night & saturday night for some fall colors and to get the lady styled out with her first pair of boots. Stoked!

Saw a few options for hot springs, but any favorites this time of year? Would love some that are a) less crowded (doesn't have to be empty), b) reasonably warm, c) with a great view (maybe most important) -- gaining elevation with a drive would be sweet.

Anybody got favorites around Mammoth or even June Lake area?

They sell this book at the gas station that has the slot machines on the west side of 395, not the big Indian gas station and casino in bishop, but the smaller one 60mi or so south of bishop.

No, the three(in the pic it's the middle path)that come together in the back corner came down and hit the intermediate chair( right where you see the path cross the ski slope midway is where it ripped the kid off the chair). The left line(slide path)is the advanced chair, but it has also has slid several times including one that ripped out the top of the lift! They are really fun when cond. are "right".

Anyone else feel a little naughty looking at this series of three kickers headed toward top left frame at the runout of dropout/wipeouts? Never got to take advantage, since about 6 week lapse to next time over there meant they were gone, but would be so psyched to find these! (Frame grab was late Feb, so maybe early Jan this year? :firedevil: anti-jinx...)

Heading up there this eve; hear fall colors are perfect, so will snap some shots and post! Thanks for the guidance on hot springs, y'all. We looked into some of these and some others, and the lady seems pretty excited about Travertine up by Bridgeport, with a sidetrip around June lake. Sounds ok to me...

Best view from a hot spring is Hilltop. Least visited Little Hot Spring then Shepperd's tub. Crab Cooker is probably best over all. Wittimore Tub is not very hot, nor is Wild Willies, but it has its virtues. If you want privacy, head over to Benton and get a private tub.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...
