    Cocktails for Party?

Hosting a good sized housewarming/holiday party tomorrow and need to finalize the booze menu. So far plenty of wine, homemade 'nog (thanks eggnog thread), and will be doing Old fashions & Manhattans but want to so something with either vodka or another spirit that isn't too intense to make...

    What you got?

    Ice luge (sp?)
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

I like a good glassful of Grey Goose, neat. And not a tumbler. But an actual glass. A pint glass is perfect. No fucking ice and no fucking fruit.

Mulled cider w/ a good rum. Add rum to glass, not mulled in the cider.

Our new holiday fav is to take a champagne flute and start with about an inch of bourbon or whiskey in the bottom, fill the flute about half way with cider, then fill the remainder of the glass with champagne or prosecco. Then throw a couple frozen cranberries in for some holiday flair. So good and easy to make for a 'special' drink. (obviously can be done in a regular glass too just not as handy as the flute in getting the right ratios)

If you want to do something more than just a "mixed drink" and don't like moscow mule (I like anything mixed with ginger ale/beer), how about a mojito?

ugh mojitos are so labor intensive and people drink them so fast that it can turn into a job, but you could always muddle up a big pitcherful ahead of time?

    that's what I was thinking.

Personally, I think the suggestions of tonic, or grapefruit and lime, are way easier/better, but Boomer seemed to want to have something that was more of a "cocktail" and not just a "mixed drink".

Side Cars. One part lemon juice, one part triple sec, two parts brandy. Shake and pour into a cocktail glass. BOOM. Delicious klassic kocktail.

Vodka, simply lemonade, st germain mixed up then float some thinly sliced lemons and fresh raspberries in the serving vessel. Chill the ingredients before service but don't put ice in the vessel since it will melt and screw up your ratio. Have glassware and an ice bucket next to the vessel. I usually use a big glass jar with a brass spigot at the bottom for this. Simple recipe but the fresh fruit churches it up just right for a festive holiday party.

Pour some scotch or bourbon in a glass. Drink it. Why make it complicated? (but screwdrivers are pretty good, although I haven't had one since high school. Margaritas are nice--easy to make in bulk. Tequila=triple sec=lime juice (not the Rose's shit, and no "margarita mix"). On the rocks, skip the salt which is a hassle.)
