Been wondering that myself. Furthermore, given that it's a 3 year project, does Rice go back to ride the line again in hopes to slay it harder that Cody did? "I'm way more core! I pined it!"
Funny how that gets lost sometimes.
Does anyone really care that someone else rode it first? Not like you were going around making a big deal about it being a 1st descent (as has been discussed by all). I've never been watching footage thinking: "Fuckin puss...someone else totally slayed that before."

Thanks for answering. My point was, and your answer supported, that you knew what was up out there. You did what any rational skier would do - assessing the conditions as you stepped onto a very large line. Because of that, you nailed the line and the shot, cool as a cucumber.
Kind of like giving the Jones crew a hard time for putting up a great descent on a legendary line (with a Legend of a First Descender) in his new movie. It was an amazing set of shots, and it showed the skill required to get down those committing features (mind you, a different story line).

Well this has certainly been entertaining!
Thanks for all the background info Alka. I just find it all fascinating.
Pretty crazy that people need to sign Non-disclosure Agreements about what was filmed, etc.Waste your time, read my crap, at:

I'd like to nominate this thread right now for TGR Thread of the Year. I know the competition's stiff w/ RT3 still out there falling to the bottom, but this has it all: pro skiers commenting, nun puns, NDAs and top-notch Internet dickery. As for my contribution to this golden conversation:
TRice rides goofy. I highly doubt he's slay this gnarly of a line switch, so at worst, it was probably a toeside sideslip. But really, sideslipping gnarly, high-consequence lines is more of Jeremy Jones' bag...

E-Jack is short for Eric Jackson. It's a nightmare of a nickname that was pinned to him back in his party days
No, Non-Compete Agreements for people making sandwiches is the most ridiculous, legally-binding workplace agreement-related thing I've ever heard of

Dammit bobby, just when I'd started to move on, you gotta go back and rip the scabs off old wounds.
RIP in peace Paseo. Although, TBH, the owner was a terrible asshole...

Six pages now of "butthurt" people "whining" and "complaining" about other "butthurt" people "whining" and "complaining". Which ones worse.

I think if brain farms film is a three year deal the hurt will be less than it would be if it came out today. But thinking about Higher, if someone had ridden that Nepal line three days inside of when Jeremy rode it and put out their movie a year ahead, we would have been in full scramble mode given that was the climax of the plot a full year before the actual film came out.
At any rate, thanks Cody and MSP dudes for weighing in, I know we feel priveledged to hear your perspective in here."We're in the eye of a shiticane here Julian, and Ricky's a low shit system!" - Jim Lahey, RIP

Cody Townsend snaked my line
I don't really get why any of this matters and Cody should not be put in a position to "defend" anything here. Skiing folks. It is supposed to be fun. I have no idea if skiing such a line could possibly be fun but I sure as hell know I was stoked watching it. The more these athletes have total freedom to get on with their bad selves everyone wins.
Alka: Does MSP give you a warm up lap before a line like that or is that pretty much the eye opener?Last edited by Doremite; 12-11-2014 at 10:18 PM.
