This thread used to have the best stoke, IMO, on this forum. Now we're arguing with some dude's (admittedly entertaining) troll alias. Sign of the times.

Thanks for the info, Texass and emcee.

Hahahaha, so classic. Great pic evidence for ....uh....? The pic you chose depicts a 10 mph turn on a 30 degree slope that, holy shit, is on a patch of "mountain" with what almost looks like alpine terrain. Oh, and wow, you found some powder!! HOLY SHIT, now I MUST MOVE EAST to find me some of those epic turns. (That said, I would never contest that the most rabid, fired up, technical, and dedicated skiers often are FROM the east coast....or the midwest.... and now live near real mountains. In the west. ) I don't know even what to say about the rest of your ridiculous made up longest, most, bestest stats -- they're just too stupid to honor a response.

Don't have a ton of pictures to contribute, but here's the bowls up above Virginia lakes, still holding some snow

And, a bit more telling on the state of the season...not quite as advertised:

WOW, 5 pages of "stoke" for the season versus 185 pages on the "East Coast Roll Call" seasonal thread. The prosecution rests, your honor..

I meant the annual Eastern Sierra thread, alias doofus. See the photos in my first post, which were taken from previous years. Anyhow, as I mentioned, just my opinion.

I think it's safe to say that your attempt to change the minds of TGR has failed miserably. Might want to give up now.

More vertical Huh? Please see above. As a California Backcountry snowboarder this mountain is in my state and one I visit each year. Its top is 14,179 ft. It is very easy to get a 6000 foot decent.

Now, can you please post up your "More Vertical" decent?

I do know what you are feeling. I grew up along the Texas gulf coast. I was a surfer. I would try to tell people there were waves in Texas but they would just laugh or look at me like I was crazy. I didnt understand. I could paddle out and ride waves so what was the deal? Then I moved to California and understood

plenty of snow here in California. You may have to drive a little farther this season but a 6000 foot run is still possible.
Oh-forgot to add that 6K will still be there for you to ski in July

How bout vermont? Do much July skiing there?

Weird thread. Weird year. My hat is off to all of those who've kept their motivation up and are making it happen on their own terms.

The little storm back in early March actually fell straight down and delivered some really high quality turns; gaper-pro edit from the 4th:

(no idea how to embed, sorry)

Disappointing season fer sure, but such is life. Hopefully there's a nice storm or two this spring.
I'll be the hyena, you'll see.

    I don't believe you.

That isn't California; it must be Vermont in July.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

    ^^^ now you're just being a cunt.
This post was not meant for BG. It was in response to alpinezone posting two pictures this am, one of a girl romping on a grassy ski run titled "summer in VT". The other fire fighters watching a forest fire titled "summer in CA".

    Eastern Sierra BC 2014-15

Tough times on the eastern front - scrapping just to make any sort of progress. I haven't been down Mammoth and Rock Creek way, but here is how Lundy looked on Saturday. I would say that there is actually more coverage at Carson Pass right now than at Ginny Lakes. Hoping for a refresher, but with any new snow falling directly on bare dirt ... I guess I'll be seeing you guys at Shasta?

^You guys didn't try to link it with north face of Dundy? at least the couloir looked like good snow. We wondered what it was like in there.

Tough times getting to oases in the Eastern Sahara ...

Whoa - I can't get over how much things melted out this past week. Not completely surprising in light of the temps (day and night), but still... Unless we get a serious refresher/storm, it is looking like it is now Eastside climbing season more or less.

Amazing a week's different in that powder was to be had one week ago (at least in Bridgeport).

We decided it wasn't worth it to climb the rocks and dirt.....and the traverse to Green Creek would have been just as dry. Click image for larger version.

Made a trip to the Rock creek hut for a few days. Coverage was ok at higher elevations. Walked to the hut, but skinned the rest of the way towards Mt. Dade. The snow was actually pretty fun, some corn, and some almost wintery wind packed snow.
