LAPD officer allegedly caught fondling corpse

(CNN)An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department is under investigation after his body camera allegedly caught him fondling the body of a dead woman.

The officer and his partner were responding to a call about a possible dead body in a residential unit, sources told the Los Angeles Times, which first reported the incident.

The officers determined the woman was dead, and while one officer went to get something from the patrol car, the accused officer turned off his body-worn camera and allegedly fondled the deceased woman's breasts, LAPD officials told the LA Times.

Though the camera was turned off before the incident, it was captured by the two-minute buffer on the device, the newspaper reported.

"The department is aware of the incident and an internal investigation has been launched," LAPD officer Jeff Lee said, adding that he cannot comment further on pending personnel matters.

LAPD Assistant Chief Robert Arcos told the LA Times the recording was "very disturbing."

A source familiar with the investigation said the incident happened a few weeks ago but was found in a random check of bodycam footage. He called the incident "way beyond the pale" and "unacceptable" and said co-workers of the accused in LAPD's Central Division are furious.

The case has not been referred to the District Attorney's office since it is still under investigation. The newspaper reported that the officer, whose name was not released, was placed on leave.

"If this allegation is true, then the behavior exhibited by this officer is not only wrong, but extremely disturbing, and does not align with the values we, as police officers, hold dear and these values include respect and reverence for the deceased," the Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union representing the officer, said in a statement. "This behavior has no place in law enforcement."

Now we know what it takes to get a police union to condemn bad behavior.

If it happens I’ll get my wife to post the info I guess.
Yea man, but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

“I...I know them, my wife worked with Mrs. YetiMan so I know Mrs YetiMan. She’s always talking about his hot temper, so we know about that already.”

Totally made it up, my wife was so pissed she about could have got on our kitchen broom and flown over to smite this lying cop with lightning out of her eyeballs. Then it all really sank in to her and she realized what they’re doing to me, and that they’re not only trying to put me in prison but trying to ruin my reputation with friends and coworkers and drive a wedge into our marriage. And she cried and cried, and...ironically...that bullshit about me having a bad temper and upsetting my wife by exploiting her relationship with one of her former employees was about the only thing in a long time that’s really made me actually lose my temper.

Small thing...but awful. It’s dishonorable, dishonest, criminal-like behavior from the person we pay to ostensibly protect and serve.
How was that in a video interview? The cops are interviewing your coworkers now?

Guys, honestly, I can't give a bunch of details here.

probably too much already. If you actually care about me, just let this resolve and know, because it's me, I'll tell the whole story when I can. And because it's me, just know I didn't do something awful, and this is all a big misunderstanding....but the legal system is broken and bad things happen to good people.

sounds like a shitty deal all around. If you go to prison, I am sure we can rally together and send you some porn mags and a few cartons of smokes.

Maybe start stretching your butt now, just in case.

I guess I’ve lost my sense of humor about the rape jokes.
I have an acquaintance from growing up here who went to prison. We talked, he said there was zero rape but lots and lots of gang and racial problems. Like, basically if you’re white the gangs just take anything you have. Your bedding, your food, your phone time, anything they want.

Powder. Surfers Journal. New Yorker. The Funny Times. Letters from you. That kind of thing.

I figured the porn and smokes would be good bartering items ..... but serious point taken seriously. Hope it doesn't come to it, but we got ya .

Vibes Yeti, that situation sounds so frustrating.

    The Attorney General recently:

“I think today, American people have to focus on something else, which is the sacrifice and the service that is given by our law enforcement officers,” Barr told the crowd. “And they have to start showing, more than they do, the respect and support that law enforcement deserves―and if communities don’t give that support and respect, they might find themselves without the police protection they need.”

One way to read Barr’s comments is as a not-so-thinly-veiled threat to communities, particularly communities of color, that have serious and legitimate issues with how they are treated by law enforcement.

    Yeti,

Do you have a lawyer? Like a GOOD lawyer, not the local schmuck who is cozy with the DA and cops. A pit bull who will rip this pile of falsity apart.

This cop says that his wife or GF said that your GF said for example should be tossed out. Hearsay. He doesn’t know anything and either should be excluded or he should be torn apart in cross examination. “Do you know any of this first hand? No? What do you know firsthand?”

Your attorney needs to put the “victim” on the stand and rip him apart.

Your attorney needs to find the inconsistencies and threaten legal action against those found to be perjuring themselves.

No, he paid a retainer to a guy who is only interested in making a plea deal. Is now kinda stuck as he doesn’t exactly have second opinion lawyer cash laying around.

Second this, Yeti is one of the good guys on here and I am certainly willing to throw some coin his way. Plus I had a mag dentist who moonlights as an attorney here help me out in a big way with free legal advice. I would love to pay if forward by helping out someone else in legal jeopardy.

You should probably delete your post prior to this one before someone quotes it. While the details are appreciated, no good can come from posting those kinds of details here.

Thank Christ. After neufox's post I was certain you were fucked. You can prevail here, because you're innocent, but you need competent help.

    Police Behaving Badly

I just dealt with the legal system and went to prison for some bullshit. Bad things can happen to anyone and there usually are a handful of people jail dealing with a broken justice system.

PM if you want to know what a medium security prison is really like (one of the worst for politics, not so much gangs as just racial self segregation in WA, but WA prisons are prisneyland compared to most states - ca). As long as you have good paper work and keep your head down, noone will steal your shit, unless your car is ok with it, stealing is extremely frowned upon and get you kicked off mainline.

I had issues with the white Car because I was honestly too nice and good of a person in a anti-social environment.
