Thanks for all of the feedback. I'm happy with the Brahma in 177, should I stick with the same length on the Bonafide? I'm 5'8" and 185

I would definitely go with the 189s at your size.

These are perfect for leftovers/afternoon chop if you've got fairly consistent snow quality. Just don't expect to ski lazy.

I avoid deeper / layered / unknown variable on these because I don't want to die. Between the stiffness + propensity to run... It's not my preferred ski when I don't know what's lurking below. (would grab my OG Cochise)

Can't comment on goliaths, but everything you want lines up with these sticks.

Old news...

But on my 21/22 188 R11s, I decided to move the mount up again from the rec line to +1. (And now mounted with Cast.)

Holy crap - I cannot believe how much I love them at +1. So engaged, but still super flickable, even more stable, and excellent in pow, groomers, and bumps. Impressive.

So good...that I'm sorta curious what +2 would be like!!

As someone who has skied +2 and +1 on the rustler 11 192, I think +1 is better. A bit more natural feeling on edge and still flickable.

Probably 20-25 days on them. I like em like that.

Still hold an edge but so surfy and slarvey too.

I was +1.5cm on my R11s….were great there. +1cm if I was to do again (shorter bsl now so more centered on the ski).

Funny, I mounted 19-20 R/S11s for 307mm BSL^ then got new boots at 293 and had *juuuuust enough* adjustment room on the binding to get them in there. It hasn’t occurred to me that I also like the new boot center location better than the old one!

^Actually I think I drilled for 305 on the line, so was -0.1cm before and moved up to +0.6cm. But I can totally see +1 being money.

Also I did get confirmation from Blizzard Nordica Tech Support that in 180 cm the Sheeva 11 has always been exactly the same as Rustler 11. I presume it’s the same for 187 and is a good way to save dough if you can stand the glittery feathers … the glitter is growing on me! (I call mine “Glistlers”)

I’m solidly convinced that this ski with Duke PTs and favorite resort capable tech toe boot of choice will be the ultimate mid winter travel ski.

I'm a little lighter than you and have both the 177 and 183 - love them both, but the 177 are mounted on the line and the 183 is +1.

New 11 skis chopped up hot pow and the untouched variety just fine.

186 feels significantly shorter than the previous 188, and is quicker in tight places without having to cheat the turns. New 186 floats significantly better than the old 188. Really couldn’t stuff the tips in 15in of sunny cascadia pow.

Really impressed with how seamlessly the ski handles a wide range of turn shapes, in a wide range of snow conditions. I think folks who have been really happy with the 188 might find the 186 a bit short, but I only really wished it was longer a couple times over the day. Looking forward to seeing if the 192 has the same rocker profile as the 186. Could be absolutely fantastic.

I find the new metal layer/shape goes a long way to keeping the tips quiet. Even when they start to come unglued at higher speeds they don’t flap around. I’ve noticed this in other skis with a similar metal layer.

That’s my understanding. Rocker lines are much more gunsmoke than previous rustler. Tip shape / taper is more rustler than gunsmoke.
I didn’t get along with the gunsmoke as many other people did. I needed to be back 2cm to get them to really work for me. I think the wide tip and especially tail weren’t my friend. I have had the same issue with other big fat tail rockered skis (Caylor, Hellbent). Didn’t have these issues with the new rustler.

Those Bones are tempting. Anyone mount their Bones forward of recommended? Sounds like the updated version is pretty demanding, even more so than past iterations.

I'm at plus 1 on 189s (6'2/195, P15 GWs/Kryptons/317 BSL @WB); bumped forward as I was a bit intimidated, and happy there, but no doubt the bump would have worked also. Still love my pair; I use em as firm only (hasn't snowed in a week sorta thing), and they're fantastic, on and off piste. If there's more than a few inches, Katana 108s or FL113s come out, as I find em a bit challenging to release in West Coast 3D snow, though some on here don't seem to have my issue, and ski em well in 3D. Great fuckin skis.

Oh man… I really don’t need to drop any more money on skis but you’re makin’ it tough. Did you experiment with mount point at all or try anything forward of +1? Or only +1?

Nope, just plus 1 (which I realize isn't all that helpful, haha), though pretty sure there are some rippers on here on the line with no complaints. I personally have no need to move my pair, but, with time on em, would have no issue going back to the line I don't think; I have no need to go forward, but prefer trad mounts. There's tons of positive info on em buried in this thread, and Bandit started up a Bonafide 97 thread as well with good info. If you like traditionally mounted, cambered, metal lam skis, these'll find a place in your quiver. Hope that helps.

I just picked up a set of the 189s and mounted on the line. They like forward pressure and speed but I would be hesitant to call them demanding. What do you want to gain by mounting forward?
