    Just saw this on the spacebook from Forrest McCarthy:

    "Jim Harris had a kiting accident yesterday in Punta Arenas, Chile and is currently hospitalized, in stable condition but with serious injuries. Ben Peters and I are in Punta Arenas providing assistance in treatment arrangements and medical evacuation. We are dealing with the evolving situation to the best of our abilities. At this time, we are considering our Patagonia expedition to be over. We will post updates on his condition when and if Jim and his family feel it is appropriate. In the meantime please send Jim positive vibes to help him with recovery. — with Jim Harris at Punta Arenas."

    I think he will have a myriad of expensive logistical problems that need to be solved before real recovery even begins. And I've heard some bad stories from hospitals in Santiago, never mind Punta Arenas. Your leg is set wrong? Who cares, you are alive, right? Next patient please. You've been lying in a hallway with a broken back for 24 hours without seeing anyone walk by and no one answered your yells for help? Whoops, mistakes happen. We are sorry!
