Bill Cosby?????
Naaahhhhh....
Come on, now. You gotta be kidding me....
Two faces of Bill Cosby...can it be??
In a word: Yes. What is it by now? 15 different women, going all the way back to 1974? The latest stating he doped her, gagged her and raped her in a 'Date Rape' kind of scenario. Four new women have stepped up to make similar accusations in the last couple days alone. The networks now giving Cosby the total cold shoulder.
There's truth in numbers, me thinks.

He is a dirty, now old man, that got away with a lot of shit as a young man because he was a celebrity. Not a new story. Pretty sure his family thinks he is a creep. That would suck. Women that take forever to say this kind of stuff are fucking stupid and are not helping society reign in the creeps when they do stuff.

So these rapes would be sex crimes. Isn't there new legislation that mandates that there is NO statute of limitations for sex crimes? That right there would be explanation enough why he hasn't said word boo about the accusations - he's scared shitless of going to prison.

Canadians have just been through exposing one of our beloved (new age sensitive guy) public radio personalities as a manipulative and aggressive exploiter of young women. I think the larger point is that a perverse ambition for celebrity (what balanced person would want such attention) is necessarily partnered with a variety of well known associated pathologies. Celebrity is a freakshow, and is somewhat entertaining when understood as such, but we should always be skeptical when they're posturing as examples for how to live one's life.

What's really shocking to me is how bad he looks. And he really sounds old, too.
File this under Bing Crosby and Mommy Dearest.

A woman I swam with in college and an on and off girlfriend (still good friends) was a private flight attendant for Circus Circus and other casinos flying out of Reno (Gulfstream V). At the time in 1986 she was telling me about all the celebs she flew with that had mistresses. Basically, all of them. But notably she talked about Bill Cosby and that he always had young girls with him. Read the timeline for his antics in Reno/Tahoe in the early 80's.
"The next accusation came just a month later, when Barbara Bowman, one of the anonymous women from Constand’s case, spoke to People. She said the abuse happened on multiple occasions in 1985 when she was 18 and looked to Cosby as a mentor when she was trying to break into the entertainment industry. According to Bowman, when she was given a glass of red wine that made her feel “completely doped up” and resisted his forceful advances in a Reno hotel, Cosby had her taken to the airport and cut off all contact with her."

You referring to Jian, the host of a show widely distributed on US public radio stations and the subject of long threads on this forum?
I think the Cosby count was 16 as of yesterday. None of them appear to have any financial incentive to go on record, so he's pretty much lost the case in the court of public opinion.

Personally, at his age and with his money. I think he should just go all Wilt Chamberlain and deny any drug use but claim sex with 1000 women.

Remember Anita Hill? That was in 1991 and Clarence Thomas was still confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice. It's always difficult when it's "he said/she said" - folks can be nervous to come forward since many won't believe them and they can be villified. Today I hope women would get themselves to a hospital for testing (both drug and rape kit) in these cases, but that is still hard when you're in shock of what just happened. But I can understand back in the 70s women would be hesitant because of who he was, the lack of understanding/support of rape and sexual harassment, etc., and well, it was the 70s. (lots of consensual sex happening, or so I'm told). And who knew of a date rape drug back then?

As a kid my brother's and I loved to listen to his comedy albums (circa 1960s) .... "my father never opened a door in his life" *crash*
In Jr. High in some sort of sexism/racism/etc. class we were shown an "educational" video of Bill Cosby sitting on a stool alone in a room espousing all kinds of hatred and sexism. What he said about women was particularly heinous and quite believable. He said stuff like "you buy them dinner they should put out" but not that nice - there was real aggression behind it. I guess the point of the video was to educate us to what hate speech sounds like. He played the part too well for me. Really creeped me out.
In the 80s while in college I saw a live comedy show he did - I was by no means a prude but found his subject matter regarding sex and masturbation disturbing and it made me uncomfortable.
I'm inclined to believe he is not innocent. Makes me think of a Sandusky type situation. Bet he wishes now he'd stayed retired.

He's such a hypocritical piece of shit...look at a lot of his previous quotes on how people and especially people of color should act. Jail him! Reality, is he has enough money to drag this out that he'll probably die before that would ever happen.

anthropologically unsurprising
as counter to his public persona, surprising
men seek glory and fame as avenue to gaining better access to women's favors
some men think that once achieved, fame/glory are entitlements to such access
in some respects, our culture confirms this, though some may prefer to not see that
but never blame victims by default if for no reason other than cheap logic

A friend shared this quote over on FB, rang a bit true to me anyways-
"The heart of the matter is this: A defender of Bill Cosby must, effectively, conjure a vast conspiracy, created to bring down one man, seemingly just out of spite. And people will do this work of conjuration, because it is hard to accept that people we love in one arena can commit great evil in another. It is hard to believe that Bill Cosby is a serial rapist because the belief doesn't just indict Cosby, it indicts us. It damns us for drawing intimate conclusions about people based on pudding-pop commercials and popular TV shows. It destroys our ability to lean on icons for our morality. And it forces us back into a world where seemingly good men do unspeakably evil things, and this is just the chaos of human history."
Goes just as well for Sandusky/Paterno as well...Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

I always saw him as sort of a black Mr. Rogers...but then again Mr. Rogers was sort of creepy in a lot of ways.
I DID like that cartoon that used to come on saturday mornings, though. How many voices did he do on that cartoon? The kid with the ski tuque pulled w/ eye holes and HUGE lips. A racially self-depricating cartoon and funny as hell! In fact, I think I'll check out a couple episodes on youtube."The reason death sticks so closely to life isn't biological necessity - it's envy. So after all these years it is now getting the attention it should have had in the 80's.
My only question is who is behind this? This is nothing less than assassination by media.
It seems to have started with a nobody comedian doing a stand up act at a no name club in Philly and suddenly has become the story of the year.
It just seems like this is a very well crafted, organized and executed plot.
