Locals took the day off and the village was the ( . )( . )s

Spun a few laps off of thunder this morning. Very sluffy in steep NE aspects.

Worked Couloir lunch and it snowed all day up top with some wild wind.

    Any reports from the pass/park?

$ everywhere. Legs toast for the day. No wind slab. Sluffing as primary avalanche problem.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Glad someone got a pic of it. Thursday & Friday was real powder skiing, the word "deep" was used.

Damn. Wishing i had opted for the stay cation. What does remain for snow here in New England is either slush immediately post-rain or blue ice. Click image for larger version.

I dropped a black and yellow BD expedition pole off my pack somewhere on second turn this past weekend. Didn't realize it was gone until I got home. Beers, etc to anyone who picks it up!
    Thanks!

Cold today, working on TAR, nordic skiing in the afternoon. Then a couple of touring days and a guiding day the rest of the week.

Been out in the deep and incredible skiing a ton, taking a couple days off while Dan gets his shoulder scoped to clean out some bone spurs that are impinging on his rotator cuff.

What the hell is the pass gonna look like in 5 years??

Still a couple of weak layers down there from mid-Dec and facets around some old crusts. Wind slabs from both the NE and the W have been popping out here and there: Martini Chutes and other spots up high and steep (see the event chart). Anywhere from 8" down to 2' down, but mostly sluffing and more sluffing. Right now the weakest layer is most certainly the snow surface= surface hoar and near-surface facets.
