no steel edges were harmed in this hatchet job. if your Tahoe is this vintage or similar I wacked them a few mm behind were the edge ends. ended taking 4 cm off the ski and it leaves a bit of rise in the tail as per Big Steve. I think Steve is where I got the idea originally

Bump for update.
Toured on the Protests for four days earlier this month. The guiding was good enough that I think I did about 1 kick turn the entire time... quality uptracks were set.
Which is to say that I couldn't really comment on one of the main reasons for chopping them, unfortunately.
They skied great and I couldn't feel any obvious loss of support from the tail like was suggested I might by not moving the binding forward to compensate.
In a couple of sections of heavier snow, I did feel like a slightly forward mount might have been better, but it was more due to a bit of a catchy feeling from the tip, and didn't feel like it had anything to do with the tail.
Everything is holding up perfectly.Goal: ski in the 2018/19 season

Bought some Praxis GPO 192's with the UL core a little while ago with this project in mind. I like long skis and ski around a 190 in resort, but I'm 5'10" so kick turns with a ski this big can cost me a few pitchers of beer.....
I now own 185 GPO's:
Measured 2 1/2 inches off the tail and taped. Made some sweet sketches too.
Used a Dremel with regular cut off wheel and 90 degree attachment.
Cut in diagonal from the edge on the first ski, after the path I took later I didn't do this on the 2nd ski. (I know have already made the main cut but I forgot to take a pic!)
Giving it the buisiness
Just the tip!
Couple of trim cuts to get me to the rough shape.
On goes a grinding wheel in normal Dremel configuration for some clean up.
Finished product.
I think the tails look great!
Skin trim and we are done folks.
I give it a 3/10 difficulty rating, took me about 2 hours but I was being pedantic.
Cheers!

Ummmm, don't know if there's a thread on this or if there should be...what about an eezee peezee way to add to yer tails? 176cm K2 o.g. Darksides were a bit long in the tip, short in tail, so I balanced the chasis for uber deep days. Happened to have a pair of turned up tails from from Fischer Porohetes kicking around from a tail chop project...ideally the addons would be much lighter and more refined. Didn't get the more consistent bottomless conditions to really test 'em out but a few runs seemed to indicate that they worked as advertised...eezee to remove/add in times of need or unneededness. In the conditions where they're needed, the 'rough cut' concept works fine. Dunno about various crusts and layered snow though, time will tell.
Master of mediocrity.

Solid thread, about to whack a pair of old Wailer 99's. Grinding will be outside with a mask, carbon fiber dust isn't good for lungs.

Anyone done this with Praxis MVPs?
I have a pair of old 187s, and thought of chopping 4-5cm or so off, and cutting a skin clip notch.
Cheers
