Where's the sweet spot with hardwood floors?
Where do the quality/$ curves intersect? I know I can get some decent looking stuff for cheap from a big box, but it seems like I can get into a specialty place for about $6/foot^2. Anybody really love their hardwood floors? What did you get? Where'd you buy it? Who installed it? What'd you spend?

We had cherry hardwood floors installed by a bunch of Amish people. Entire house, they're gorgeous. Cabinets too. Love em to death but fucking pricey.
Fucking Amish.
Sorry I can't be more of help.
Edit to add: we had to replace all of our hardwood floors at our family house on the ocean from salt and humidity damage and went with oak. It's not as pretty but it holds up better. Not sure this helps. Just don't let mass amounts of humidity and salt air and toolbags that walk in houses with golf spikes and you should be ok.I still call it The Jake.

A species of wood you're considering would be a good start to getting some useful info.
I didn't want Chinese sourced and manufactured shit in my house. So I did the research and found a company that uses North American hardwood and mills and finishes it in North America. Yea it cost more but at least my "North American" hardwood floor isn't grown or finished ten thousand miles away.
Amerikuh goddammit!

He'd have to figure out what the fuck he wants from a floor first. must be tired of the rugburn on his knees and the fibers in his mouth.
