Went up for demo day. Saturday's rain was lethal. Dust started stacking up around noon and started making things fun. Hardly a crowd (except the beginner side of things, which was mobbed)

I should have waited it out! Was fun for a while. Bowls off of star were good minus the blue ice underneath.

I witnessed an astro van try to pass a lifted mid size truck with mud tires on the access road, both were spinning and going at most 5 mph. Kinda funny to watch. The astro van called it a draw and slid back in behind the truck. Last I saw of the truck it was going in reverse back down the road in the downhill lane.

I saw a guy biking on 35 headed towards white River at around 7.30a
(Road had snow on it at that point)

I should have picked him up to save him from himself but I was well past him by the time I realized it

Hopefully he made it to wherever he was headed...

Yeah I hope so too. I must have seen that guy shortly after you did. Nuts, or core?

I heard 26 and 35 turned into a junk show this morning. Lead to a handful of quick ride-on laps between 9 and 10, which was nice, though.

Finally got to see the canyons off shooting star. West facing wind blown slopes look really boney, but they do look pretty steep, hopefully they open soon, I think this might be a pretty good replacement for Alpy.

benk, friend of benk, and I started in White River thinking "Eh, maybe we'll poke around the fin" and ended up climbing almost to 9k ft. Skied the big bowl just below lookers left side of Wyeast. Some really nice windbuff to be skied, with minimal ice.

    Starting up

It's, uh, a little thin in spots

oh hey neat the skies are clearing

"Do you think we'll need crampons or an axe? Nahhhhh, probably not going far, just leave them in the car"

About 30 seconds before benk became very puckered

All of white river from the top

Cleared out as we were headed back out

    snow bridges? hahahahahahahahahah

Yeah, the parking lot is 4200, so at least 4.5k ft of climbing.

Probably not, but I bet today/tomorrow would be great summit days. Tomorrow might even have good corn.

If forecast for this Sunday pans out (sunny and warm), might have to go high on Adams or Helens. A little worried that the Helens approach is going to be a lot of hiking before hitting snowline.

Ridiculously pitiful, I know. I am getting closer to it though. I went up yesterday to do some inner tubing with my son. I imagine it was decent on the hill. I had almost forgot what it was like to see snow falling from the sky. I bet my first day riding will be at Bachelor at the end of the month. Hopefully it gets cold with some new right as I am getting there. I am not holding my breath!

Stay positive. I've got the last week of junuary open. Been working my moves on bob. Cutting him off in lift lines, pushing him over, skiing past him going uphill. I'm surprised he even answers my txt.

Meh, jonesy's attempts at knocking me down are lame - like playing hockey with 8 year-olds. The big issue is when he ditches our chair for the next one or two up so he can chat with some Betty. Bros before hoes - bro!
