Great to take a few runs with you. Not ideal conditions by any stretch of the imagination...but nice to be up there again. Sorry about the lack of the tomahawk. I usually like to keep that move in my bag for big powder days.

Jonesy, catch you next time. Hope all is well.

There may be something like 8-12 inches of precip possible on Hood today, but the current temperature at Timberline is 37F at the base.

I was up there yesterday hoping (emphasis on the hope) that I could get a day tour in. Instead I had near 5 hours of driving for about 1.5 hours of getting pissed on through in 25mph wind in near whiteout. Prime rime building weather. On the flip side I learned stuff, Haglaf hardshell pants (2 seasons) no longer 100% water proof, BD Guide gloves were just sponges, it is really hard to step into dynafits (sans brakes) on an icey cross slope.

Delightful conditions Jim. If it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger. Clearing Wed. if that's any help. Of course there might be any Snow pack left by then. I think I'll just go have a few drinks now..................

Thanks Puma he's out of the hospital and at home.

Picture skiing on 4" of new on a plastic picnic table. That is what the majority of Meadows was like today.

Snow or no snow , rain or no rain, why don't you come out to Vertfest on Saturday and Sunday for the race or demo some skis or jones snowboards, and support your local avalanche association

Took out my new skis scored on sale last week.
I got déjà vu from last spring all day.
Pretty much empty. Express broke down for about an hour so lots of safety meetings on Blue.
    Was fun once everything potato'd.

Life long 40 year old skier Oregonian here. Moved to Bend 20 years ago and was in S. Ore at Mt. Ashland for 8 of those, but back at Bach now. Keep telling a co-worker of mine from North Carolina (1yr) this type of winter happens and snow is on the way, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking that this is unprecedented in the near past. I love the spring skiing around here, but does anyone have a positive spin on what the spring may bring. Any input would help me squash his concerns?

I'm hopeful. Got a trip planned for Bachelor at the end of March and it will be my first time there. I really don't want to bring golf clubs.

my expectations for January are usually low. looking at some of the snowpack trends from the past 4 or 5 years is not encouraging though. I'm rationalizing by trying to be satisfied cruising groomers because I'm too fat to get out of deep snow. my pass goes unlimited at the end of march at timberline so I can ride palmer until the end of may if I want. if it doesn't melt.

Nobody here seems to remember the 04-05 season in the PNW. Base at Meadows maxed out at 32". THAT was a dismal season

And about half of last seasons snowfall at Bachy occurred after Feb 15

Yup, have not given up at all. Kind of congratulating myself for choosing to hold out for a spring pass.
