    Almost Ablaze

Just great. Season opener was last night.

I'm biased towards all the Jackson shots, but the night segment was incredible. Stole the show. Very imaginative.

Also, this was the best music in any TGR movie.

Almost Abaze got us stoked for ski season.

Glad you liked it! 'Twas a super fun night indeed, although being of medium height, I had to pretty much stand in the beer tent to get a good sightline. Not that I was complaining about that....

Got to hang out and take some photos during one of the night sessions at Targhee and aside from being freezing as hell, it was pretty cool to watch. Especially since, out of the shot, Sage was dropping about four feet to flat into the Targhee overflow lot for a bunch of those shots. Pretty amazing seeing him ski so confidently in the night, with a projector blasting in his face, and often without goggles. It was just like trying to get down that access road after a fresh 18" had fallen that night, in a no-clearance VW, pretty much getting barrelled with no traction or visibility the whole way down. Those guys ended up staying til dawn, though. Have been holding onto these shots for awhile, but might as well do something with them now:

I think iTunes downloads go up in mid-October... wanna say the 15th but it usually moves around a couple days depending on how quickly Apple gets it through their program.

Saw Ablaze here in town last night. Great sound track. Angel Collinson's segment was my favorite; two words to describe her skiing: fucking badass.

Curmudgeon Alert! i thought the film was ok. some sick lines for sure, and standout performances from angel collison and mcnutt.... but i have to disagree with the fact that the soundtrack was really good or something. the only tracks that i would have put in the film was the stones track during the moran segment and the talking heads opener. those songs are unforgetable, and will always be played somewhere. most of the rest of the soundtrack was utterly blah, but that is just taste. i like songs that contain creative and energetic drumming. does pro tools not have any options for a drum fill or what? just put a bunch of 80's metallica in next years film please, or has that already been done?

Pretty sure I've heard a (true?) story where TGR got free music out of Metallica to put in their ski porn back in the day.

Can't believe that was waaay back in 2003

jeez name calling isnt cool, neither is failure to recognize some pretty obvious irony. after such a huge winter, i was a little disappointed that both tgr films had their most dramatic moments skiing ice. whatevs, the storm show movie will be rad im sure, they always are

I really liked this one. That is all.

    Italy was awesome.

Yeah, it's up on iTunes now...

Watched it in a couple of sittings. Some banger segments and a few standout lines that I'll have to actually rewatch to remember who/where.... but the Italy segment stood out... Could feel the stoke... As did the Le Grave, as it wasn't the typical crush a line rinse and repeat. The skiing was flawed, and I like that, showed them skiing more than just some blower.

It did seem like they tacked a few sements on

One of the better TGR films in recent years for sure.

    Things that were good:
    -Spines and such
    -Much lighter on Sage talking

    Things that were "meh"
    -That projector segment
-Sage talking, except when he was super gripped on the edge of that cliff!
Its not that I suck at spelling, its that I just don't care

^^ Sage, question for you. Was there any point during that gnarly drop off that you considered having the heli come back to get you?

It's well documented that Lars likes to ski and has hung out with the tgr crew...so probably.

I like that the next comment was from the man himself. i shouldnt have pooh-poohed the film, it was cool. but is would have switched up the tunes. with a name like "Almost Ablaze" i thought the banger segment was gonna be set to a rockin "Fire on the Mountain"

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
