so actuaries know more biomedical science than, say, someone who got a PhD in human physiology?

Oh you're right, actuaries never work in finance estimating the mortality of humans with math equations, for financial purposes.

Sure they do numb nuts. Whoever stated that an actuary would somehow know more about biomedical sciences than a Phd in human physiology? You took my statement that finance is dominated by math and science and came up with a debate on who knows more about biomedical science…an actuary or a Dr in human physiology. Go back to sleep fruit loop.

It turns out that people who are willing to suffer through 18-20+ credits of difficult, technical classes a semester, work their asses off for several years, and understand a lot of things that most people can't grasp are more valuable once they have their fancy piece of paper than liberal hippie douche bags who can flip a good burger, but only if you want it after they wake up at 10:30 AM. All that is despite the fact that the former has almost no social skills.

No, I read your bogus sweeping assertion as a bogus sweeping assertion. From a finance entity's perspective, the actuary's take on mortality is more relevant and "truer" than what a biomed specialist scientist would argue. Hence the math part more important than the biologic part, from finance's view. Which is how/why you're wrong, fuck-crater.
Go back to smug wrongness, douche-ticket.

Anyone else surprised new officers in the military make that kind of money?

HAhahahahahahaha. I said finance is math and science. Which obviously includes actuaries because they use mathematical modeling to asses risk.
Then this is what you said…
I see.
so actuaries know more biomedical science than, say, someone who got a PhD in human physiology?
Then this.

HahahahHAHAHA… again who the fuck stated otherwise?
You think me saying finance is math and science.. is a "bogus and sweeping assertion" yet you are now debating the importance of actuaries vs biomed scientists in finance.
Holy fuck your a treat.
Keep up the good work Creaky

18-20 credits/semester? I guess what used to be a 3-credit course now is a 5-credit, just so people can brag on their credit load
enginerding the toughest focus in college? I'm chuckling. no, wait. my side literally burst open, truly.
why is enginerding spiking right now in demand? employers think they know what they want, but they don't, because they treat candidates like resumes rather than as people and a 4.0 cumulative GPA is believed to represent a more capable employee despite subjectivity saying otherwise
so why the spike?
you have some impressive tunnel vision for such a stupid person
finance entities think an actuary can predict human longevity better than a biomedical science person, but you keep banging that dissonant drum, putzy

Would you prefer if I had said 6-7 courses per semester, plus labs (0 credits each, ~3 hrs of class time each week)?
We are in demand because the rest of you are incapable of doing what we do. You keep flipping burgers and painting pictures. We'll build the world.Originally Posted by Smoke

you said the dick swinging was over, but here you are trying to twirl your vienna sausage for everyone to see
enginerding doesn't require over-booking your course load each semester
enginerding isn't the only field with mandatory lab hours
sounds like you're comparing enginerding to "communications" or "marketing" or "business," and thinking you are the genius of the group because you're comparing it to "majors" which are just ways for colleges to make money while delivering little education
enginerds think they know everything and are smarter than everyone, stereotypically, so I'm glad to see you polishing the frame around that stereotype
let's hope you never have to deal with someone who actually has some intelligence, you may end up running home with your tail between your legs and whining to mommy that you don't get any respect and obviously that's because everyone's jealous of your enginerdiness
enginerding: where you go if you want to be considered sorta-smart, but can't handle the demands of core sciences (math, chemistry, physics, biology)
at least you can pay money to get a P.E. designation, so you won't have to feel rice-dicked around M.D.s, D.D.S.s, J.D.s
