2014/2015 Dynafit Evo
Looking for some light touring boots and I'm intrigued to find Dynafit Evo is now all black, with a more solid looking shape, while maintaining a <700 g weight AND coming in $500 cheaper than last year.
What is up with the lower price? And, did they make the last wider, like TLT6 vs. TLT5?

I think the shape looks different only because of the new color scheme?
Has a new removable rear spoiler.
Instep buckle has a velcro flap closure for micro adjust like the upper cuff buckle.
Liner is totally different.
I suspect that everything else is unchanged although perhaps the sole rubber composition was quietly changed.
Isn't the price reduction less than $500 though?Mo' skimo here: NE Rando Race Series

Here's the new liner:

Price drop seems to be from $1,700 to $1,400, so $300, not $500.

I would go with the Aliens if they fit(or you can make them), very similar last but run shorter. Almost everyone I've talked to has been underwhelmed with the Evo vs. the Alien 1.0. Haven't skied the Evo, but I'm very happy with the Alien 1.0. In my mind it's worth it to just buy what works the first time vs buying something that's a little cheaper that you might not be 100% happy with.

I don't think it's a complete slam dunk between the two.
My detailed thoughts here based on lots of use of both of them:

Lots of user reviews here for the Alien:

(Unfortunately the EVO reviews seem to have disappeared when the listing was revised -- maybe they can be restored...)Mo' skimo here: NE Rando Race Series

Given that the lower shell is unchanged, and given that even the new EVO liner has to still be wafer thin, sure seems like the fit must be the same.
(Personally, my ideal boot = EVO fit + EVO instep buckle + Alien 1.0 walk-ski switch + Alien 1.0 sole rubber + perhaps that new EVO liner + forward flex somewhere in between the two)Mo' skimo here: NE Rando Race Series

I meant in addition to that. Carbon can be brittle, you know.
