It was a breath of fresh air at first, and was different than what was out there in a good original way. Everyone else ruined it by copying them 'x infinity', I wouldn't blame them for other people trying to emulate them. Blame filmmakers herd mentality and general instinct of trying to impress each other too much.

I agree with Jeff about just filming riders ripping trails they like. Want to make a truly awesome MTB movie? Here's the formula: get 5-7 talented riders and have each of them ride their favorite trail or maybe the trail they learned the most on growing up. As a mtb-er I love to explore new trails, but nothing comes close to riding some of my favorite loops that I know like the back of my hand. Every little rock and root memorized and my riding goes to another level. That's what gets me stoked, anyway.

Having said that, I haven't seen UnReal yet but I'll give it a chance.

Never saw it. What I did see looked okay. Its not mountain biking in the traditional sense and maybe not my kind of film but I still think it has its place in focusing on something different (dare I saw "progressive" riding). The idea behind the film of "what can we ride on these silly things" is interesting... Something sort of like every ski film in the 2000s was built on (bigger/better/higher/faster)

UnReal didn't have that same style of question posed. See the difference? (at least in principal...?)

I do, I was asking about that movie in particular b/c it sets the bar for me now...

I also liked the rad company movie last year for standard bike porn... but could see how many would not.

I don't know, but that movie motivated me to finally get off my ass and drive around the desert until I found where they were filming. That lead to some of the coolest moments of my life.

I doubt watching unReal will make me want to search for wild horses to scare the shit out of, but maybe I'm just being negative.

Oh, so you have no idea how it finishes then?

They actually document where the trail ends.

I've got to hurry up and see this so I can speak of its shortcomings through my nose as if TGR has somehow greatly inconvenienced me and taken valuable time from my cancer curing work as a living saint.

Welp... sorry. Care package for your sympathy?

Also, JJ, your people at Vital gave it a fluffer review: http://www.vitalmtb.com/features/unR...aign=spotlight

Internet hero, Team Robot, was satisfactorily displeased in the comments at least.
